I bought my first boat from Chris Ollis in December 2013. The sea gods were looking after me, as I could not have been any luckier getting Chris as my broker.

Although I had some boating experience before buying a new Beneteau 34’ Swift Trawler from Chris, I had (and still do) a lot to learn. From the beginning, Chris impressed me with his overall professionalism and knowledge. He was always responsive, did not require follow-up, and took care of lots of details, making my purchase easy. He ensured I got the best value. In addition, he provided extra support and insight in terms of my making docking arrangements as well as finding a local Captain to manage and occasionally charter my boat.

If that was the story, it would be a good purchase with an excellent broker. However, Chris has continued to support my boating adventures for the last 15 months with personal attention, advice, mentoring, and going above and beyond. As my boat was docked near his office, he has paid personal attention to numerous details. He has been involved in service, repair and upgrades – I always knew he would take care of the details and make sure I got a fair deal. When I made my inaugural multi-day trip from Charleston to Ft. Pierce, Florida and back last year, Chris served as “mission control” – helping me out with any questions or issues I encountered and providing invaluable advice. I had an engine related issue and Chris spent hours with me on the phone over the Christmas holidays, helping me try to problem solve.

Chris is a high integrity, hardworking professional who has helped make my boat ownership experience as easy as possible. I’d recommend him without hesitation.

Jean-Marie doesn’t just sell boats for a living, he is matchmaker between boats and owners.  He has a gift for being able to listen to the desires of potential owners and through his experience find them a boat with the right degree of leisure, adventure, comfort, challenge and cost.  So many people I know have bought and sold boats over and over with Jean-Marie because he is always listening and finding the right fit for people and families that will get them off the dock and on the water.  He is a yacht broker because he has a passion for the sea and wants to share it successfully with his clients.

The first time my wife and I met Jean–Marie was at the 2006 Long Beach Boat show, where we went to start our search for our first new boat.

At that time he was with Sailboats Inc., and he showed me around the Beneteau line they were selling.

As an avid sailboat racer, I was looking for something faster and more cutting edge. My wife on the other hand was new to sailing and was looking for some amenities for cruising. We bought a new Beneteau First 36.7 right out of the show.. It is a fast performance cruiser.

Jean-Marie true to his word helped us through the sea trial and installation of the instruments and canvas. Unlike a lot of salesmen, he did not “move on to the next sale”, he actually helped me find crew for my new race team. He even race with us whenever he could.

I have gotten to know Jean-Marie and his family over the years and he is an honest and true “stand up guy". I continually turn to him for advice and help 7 years later and he never fails me.
