Albin Marine was founded in Sweden in 1899 as a marine diesel engine and boat manufacturer. Successor to Albin Motor, Albin Marine entered the U.S. market in 1966 and become recognized worldwide manufacturing products in Sweden, the United States, and Taiwan. Fred Peters has been the President of Albin Marine since the company’s emergence into the U.S. market.
In 1981, Volvo Penta acquired the marine engine division. Albin builds DownEast cruising and fishing boats in their 147,000-sqaure foot facility located in Portsmouth, RI.
