2008 Back Cove 33
A very clean 2008 Back Cove 33 with the classic Downeast profile, single-diesel with a layout that works well for coastal cruising in BC.
This is a good size of boat for someone who wants comfort without getting into a larger, more complicated yacht. The helm deck is bright and protected, the galley is up where people prefer to spend time, the cockpit is easy to move through, and the single 480HP Yanmar diesel keeps the maintenance of things much more straightforward.
The bigger notable here is the mechanical work. This boat has been upgraded with a Yanmar 480 HP diesel, ZF transmission, dripless shaft seal, strut, prop shaft, Nibral propeller, Mastervolt inverter/charger, newer batteries, newer Dometic refrigeration, Webasto diesel heat, and MaxPower bow and stern thrusters.
Only 230 hours since the engine and transmission were replaced and the boat was gone through. Recent maintenance includes fresh oils, fuel filters, coolant, anodes, alternator, starting batteries, and a fresh prop. The owner is also planning to haul the boat for fresh bottom paint and a polish.
A January 2025 survey rated the vessel in above average condition, and the survey notes the boat was inspected both in-water and out-of-water, with a limited trial run completed.
For a buyer looking for a Back Cove 33, this one checks a lot of boxes: single diesel, shaft drive, bow and stern thrusters, diesel heat, a spacious cockpit, excellent visibility, good interior volume, and major mechanical investment already done for the next owner.

Layout
The Back Cove 33 has always had a strong following because it is easy to use. You get a protected helm deck, galley up, good side-deck movement, a spacious cockpit, and a cabin that has enough comfort for overnighting.
The helm deck has the galley aft of the helm, dinette seating to port, companion seating forward, and good visibility through the hardtop enclosure. Below, there is a forward berth, convertible seating, storage, and a proper enclosed head with separate stall shower. The previous listing noted sleeping accommodations for up to five between the V-berth, convertible cabin settee, and convertible helm-deck dinette.
Deck and Cockpit
The January 2025 survey noted the exterior soft goods were clean and well maintained where sighted, the teak brightwork was well maintained, the windows were well fit, and the exterior lighting all in good working order
