This is a commercial-grade aluminum boat that is an offshore-ready cruising package custom-made for the owner to explore Alaska with his wife. Being a fabricator by trade, the owner was looking for top-quality welding and the ability to deliver commercial-grade strength combined with modern amenities. After exploring many aluminum boats and manufacturers, he settled on the team at Riptide Marine. They were willing to work with the owner’s requests for the finest grade aluminum as well as to build the boat to fit his 6’6”, 300 lbs. frame. Besides strength, he wanted the maximum width for towing without needing a pilot car. This width provides for greater stability, more interior space and a wider underwater surface for efficient planing. He also wanted a boat with plenty of headroom, wider side decks for size 16 feet to get around to the bow, a roof he could jump on, a table that 4 good sized men could sit together comfortably, a berth to sleep on where his feet weren’t hanging off the end, visibility forward from the cockpit helm station and the ability to go 80 kilometers per hour.
Riptide Marine delivered all this and more. She is a beautiful boat and comes with a triple axle trailer that was made specifically for the boat, making launching and retrieving a low-stress experience.
With diesel heat, propane stove and oven and a transferable warranty on the engines through 2029, this is an amazing setup for any couple wanting a true expedition boat.
With this boat, you can have a leisurely start and head out from Nanaimo at 10 am and be in the heart of Desolation Sound just after noon. Or haul her up to Juneau and explore Glacier Bay for a week or two. With 1000 litres of fuel, you can get a long way on a single tank, and when you get to the dock, use the iDock joystick to maneuver with precision and confidence.
If you’re looking for a tough, well-thought-out and proven expedition boat with more headroom and comfort than you can find in a stock boat, come have a look at Yukon Time.

Evinrude's iDock joystick control adds a whole other level of user convenience.
From Boating Mag review
In operation, the iDock joystick allows you to maneuver and turn the boat in any direction. You can move it sideways, forward and in reverse, as well as spin the vessel in place. Skippers can also pivot the bow or stern while moving the boat sideways, forward or in reverse.
Gyroscopic stabilization automatically compensates for wind and current to keep the boat moving on the course you direct with the joystick. Returning the joystick to the neutral position resets the gyrostabilization system.
A built-in boost mode intuitively adds thrust with additional pressure on the joystick. A detent on the joystick tells you when you have pushed past the normal speed and activated the boost mode to increase engine rpm.
For the most comfortable ride, there are three Shockwave S5 Suspension Seats. Not to be underestimated, Shockwave seats make for a much more enjoyable experience for the captain and their co-pilots.
