36 Cigarette 1978 Boat for Sale

36' Cigarette 1978

Few names in offshore performance boating carry the legendary status of Cigarette Racing and its founder, Donald Aronow. Revered as one of the pioneers of modern offshore racing, Aronow's designs helped define an era of high-speed performance boats that continue to influence the industry today. The Cigarette 36 became one of the company's most iconic hulls, celebrated for its exceptional rough-water handling, unmistakable styling, and race-proven pedigree. Opportunities to own an original Aronow-era Cigarette are increasingly rare, particularly examples with documented history and long-standing freshwater ownership. "Girl Scout" is one of only a handful of 1978 Cigarette 36s produced during Donald Aronow's ownership and represents an extraordinary piece of offshore racing history. Originally owned by renowned offshore racer Gil Lieber, this vessel is powered by twin 540 cubic-inch V8 engines custom-built by legendary engine builder Keith Eickert, whose name is synonymous with championship-winning offshore performance. Producing approximately 730 horsepower each and paired with Speedmaster 3A surface drives, the boat delivers exhilarating performance with a documented top speed of approximately 76 MPH. A unique left-hand helm configuration, built specifically for Gil Lieber, further distinguishes this Cigarette from virtually every other example produced. Beyond its remarkable provenance, "Girl Scout" has benefited from meticulous mechanical care throughout its life. The engines have fewer than 30 hours since professional refresh and have been maintained by Entec Marine in Toronto with extensive service records and receipts available. Freshwater-kept throughout its life, the boat remains an honest, highly original example that is equally suited for the serious collector or enthusiast looking to own and enjoy a true piece of offshore performance history. The cuddy cabin provides practical overnight accommodations, while the included aluminum tri-axle trailer and documented historical records further enhance the value of this exceptionally rare Cigarette.
