38' Ocean Alexander 1985

Few names capture the character of a classic cruising yacht quite like Ocean Alexander. Established in the late 1970s through the collaboration of Alex Chueh and renowned naval architect Ed Monk Jr., the builder earned an international reputation for substantial construction, capable semi-displacement hulls and beautifully executed teak interiors. Those enduring qualities have made early Ocean Alexanders sought-after cruising yachts for owners who value craftsmanship, comfort and genuine cruising character. The Ocean Alexander 38 Double Cabin packages that heritage into an exceptionally inviting trawler-style cruiser. Her solid-fibreglass semi-displacement hull, shallow keel and hard aft chines deliver the steady, economical performance that makes an unhurried day on the water—or a longer Great Lakes adventure—so rewarding. Dual helm stations provide welcome flexibility in changing weather, while raised bulwarks and protected walkaround decks inspire confidence underway. Step below and the appeal continues: a warm teak interior, bright and spacious salon, private staterooms forward and aft, two heads and excellent storage create the comfort and privacy of a much larger yacht. Waterthrush is a rare opportunity to own a classic cruising yacht backed by a remarkable level of documented investment. Her extensive 2015–2016 refit totalled more than $102,000 and approximately 772 labour hours, with attention given to the bottom, windows, exterior finishes, bilge and fuel systems, transmissions, generator, batteries and charging equipment. The current owner has continued that stewardship with a rebuilt windlass motor, new windshield wipers, a new bilge pump and generator battery, a new toilet pump assembly, replacement fuel filters, a new seawater washdown pump, a new generator impeller and new dock lines. Complete with a tender and Berkley 5 hp four-stroke outboard, Waterthrush combines timeless trawler appeal, genuine liveaboard comfort and the kind of maintenance history discerning buyers look for. She is ready to begin her next chapter with an owner who appreciates what a proper cruising yacht should feel like. $102K DOCUMENTED REFIT – TWIN LEHMAN DIESELS – AC & HEAT - TWO STATEROOMS / TWO HEADS – DUAL HELMS – 8 KW WESTERBEKE GENERATOR – DINGHY WITH 5 HP FOUR-STROKE - PERFECT FOR GREAT LOOP +++
