Enter the cockpit from the wide swim platform via port and starboard boarding gates. The forward facing seat can electronically slide more than a foot aft to enlarge the cockpit when desired. An elegant table is attached to the center of the seat base and moves with the seat. An aft facing seat adds additional seating.
The engine room is reached through the cockpit sole where a large hatch opens electrically to provide easy access to engines, gen set and all mechanical systems.
From the cockpit, step forward into the main salon. The large bi-fold salon door and electrically operated aft window beautifully connect the salon to the cockpit. In the main salon, to starboard is a long cabinet featuring a pop-up flat screen television and multiple storage spaces. To port, is a raised convertible dinette surrounding an elegant inlaid salon table that is the centerpiece of the salon’s beautiful woodwork. Forward of the dinette to port is a clever mate’s seat that provides additional seating for the dinette but also converts to face forward so that several crew members can sit together while underway.
To starboard is a well-laid out helm station anchored by a Stidd Admirals Series helm seat. Excellent sight lines in all directions and an extensive suite of Garmin electronics, coupled with the Volvo Penta IPS joystick conveniently located at the hand of the operator, all make navigation and docking a breeze.
Below deck and aft of the stairs is a lower lounge which converts to a full sized double berth. This quiet and private spot is an excellent place to relax and can be an extra cabin when friends or family join you onboard.
Forward to port is the well-equipped galley. Light from the windshield above and the opening ports flood the galley with light. The galley includes a stainless steel refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven, a large solid surface countertop with stainless steel sink, and ample storage space for all your provisions.
The galley and primary stateroom are divided by a bulkhead that includes a divider the houses the TV for the master and can raised to provide privacy and access to the TV and lowered when a more open cabin area is desired. The primary stateroom offers a queen sized pedestal berth with steps on both sides for easy access. Offering multiple drawers, cabinets, and a cedar lined hanging locker, the master stateroom provides an extraordinary amount of storage for the cruising couple.
To starboard, the en-suite head, with separate access from both the primary stateroom and galley area, is very functional yet elegant, with contemporary fixtures, solid surface countertops, and an enclosed shower.
The Sabre 38 Salon Express represents the latest in design and naval architecture. Her exterior profile says Downeast and she is built in the tradition of Maine boat building: beautiful, strong, reliable and very seaworthy. Below her skin, technology is everywhere: from her resin infused laminates, to state of the art systems, and a modern pod propulsion drive. Her hull lines are specifically designed for the installation of pods, which allow increased fuel economy, quiet running and a very pleasant ride.
Fuel economy is an important consideration in these days of uncertain diesel fuel prices but perhaps as important is the boat’s extraordinary ease of handling around the docks. Her joystick controls provide great operator confidence, even in the most challenging circumstances.
