Scanner Envy 1200 HT, test with a double Yamaha 425

When a hull is well made, it doesn't take a lot of horsepower. This is a postulate that should guide us whenever we look for a technically perfect boat, that is, with waterlines capable of minimizing friction and sailing smoothly in various marine weather conditions. Characteristics that the Envy 1200 HT Scanner that we have just tested proves to have since, with very little horsepower in fact, it offers outstanding performance.

Scanner Envy 1200 HT test with two Yamaha 425It's late afternoon when I climb aboard the Envy 1200 HT. We are on Lake Maggiore and the autumnal colors are reflected in the white livery of this boat, creating a decidedly intriguing overall vision. The engines are idling as we head out of port in this fairytale setting and I think I'm very curious to see how we'll do with this powertrain.

850 CV in a boat of this level is not much, we have a real interior, a teak deck and a full tank of fuel, in my opinion, in running order we would be in the order of 8 tons in total.

The Hard Top of the Scanner Envy 1200 HT is well thought out and the wind protection, even at this speed, is almost perfect. Today it is 10/12 degrees and I am sailing without getting cold, the truth is not bad.

I slow down to about 30 knots and start making a series of turns, first wide and then narrow, trying to get this boat into trouble, but she doesn't care and just keeps sailing like it's on rails. I draw circles in the water to create waves that I then ride through without slowing down, the Envy going up and down these man-made mountains of water without wavering, never faltering. What a helmet, guys, what a helmet…

We stop and I hand over the controls to Fabio Montemitro, I want to take some photos with my drone, this light is too special not to bring some photos home. So I take off the drone, start taking photos and in a moment I understand the real reason for the success of the Scanner Envy 1200 HT, it is really beautiful. So beautiful that each shot instantly creates an emotion that is hard to forget.

However, as soon as I put my hand on the throttles and push forward, the Scanner leaps forward and out of the water with unexpected ease. I stop, because I don't believe it, and I try again with the same result. Man, minimum glide is between 10 and 11 knots, crazy!

I accelerate fully and the maxi rib shoots forward, 20, 30, 40 and does not stop. We hit 45 knots in the blink of an eye, then I trim both outboards to the limit and we hit a top speed of 47.4 knots, quite a sight.

Se trata de una obra maestra de diseño y ergonomía que consigue sintetizar las ventajas de una cubierta transitable con las de una maxicuna, por lo que es capaz de crear un excelente volumen en la cubierta inferior.

De hecho, gracias a los dos escalones situados en el borde de la bañera, las pasarelas se elevan creando una valiosa altura interior, mientras que en cubierta perfilan un gran solárium de proa.

Volviendo a popa, en posición central, se encuentra una amplia zona de solárium que, gracias a un respaldo deslizante, sirve también como sofá de popa para el elegante dinette que permite a cuatro personas comer o cenar al aire libre con la mayor comodidad.

Más adelante, hay un gran mueble central que, por un lado, alberga una cocina totalmente equipada, y por el otro, los dos sillones del piloto, frente al generoso salpicadero.

El Hard Top es el elemento que más caracteriza a este Maxi-Rib y que, además de dar sombra a esta unidad, la resguarda de las inclemencias del tiempo y genera, aprovechando la prolongación del parabrisas, el solárium delantero.

A la izquierda está el acceso a la cubierta inferior que, como acabamos de escribir, es sorprendentemente grande gracias a la cubierta delantera. En el interior, un pasillo acoge un sofá a babor y un enorme cuarto de baño privado a estribor, que cuenta incluso con una cabina de ducha independiente.

Hacia la proa, una cama king-size completa con elegancia el interior del Scanner Envy 1200 HT que, a pesar de sus doce metros de eslora, ofrece el confort de una embarcación mucho mayor.
