The cockpit is designed for safety and efficiency, especially for shorthanded sailing. All sail control lines lead aft to self-tailing winches, and a single-line auto-reefing system simplifies mainsail adjustments from the cockpit. The T-shaped cockpit accommodates a large-diameter wheel for clear sail visibility, while its spacious layout ensures comfort and security for all aboard.
A boarding platform with a deployable ladder, and a handheld (cold) shower enhance functionality. Partial solid stainless life-rail (bow & stern). At the bow, a teak and stainless steel anchor roller platform simplifies anchoring and protects the hull’s gelcoat. Additional stern anchor with ~200' of rode and installed fairlead that runs to starboard winch.
As you descend the companionway, pet- and people-friendly steps lead into the expansive galley and salon, where rich teak surrounds you, accentuating the Caliber 40LRC’s wide beam to create a warm, spacious living area. A versatile twin-leaf dining table folds neatly to optimize space, while the aft head, conveniently accessible from both the salon and aft stateroom, enhances privacy and functionality. The L-shaped galley is a chef’s delight, featuring a three-burner propane stove with oven, dual stainless-steel sinks, a spacious Frigoboat split icebox with freezer, and ample neutral-toned Corian countertops for effortless meal preparation. Also within reach is secured cabinetry and drawers for provisions and dish-ware.
Exceptional ventilation, provided by multiple opening portholes, overhead hatches, and strategically placed fans, ensures a fresh and comfortable interior throughout your journey.
The forward stateroom of the Caliber 40LRC offers a spacious offset full berth, complemented by a generous en-suite head with a separate, enclosed shower for ultimate comfort. Ample hanging lockers and drawers provide abundant storage, while a dedicated vanity simplifies morning routines. After a long passage, unwind with a soothing shower powered by the onboard 6-gallon hot water heater, ensuring relaxation and convenience in this well-appointed private retreat.
The aft stateroom of the Caliber 40LRC features a comfortable double berth and a spacious hanging locker, offering ample storage for extended voyages. With direct access to the aft starboard wet head, this private retreat ensures convenience and comfort, allowing guests to feel seamlessly included in the journey.
The Caliber 40LRC is a robust, bluewater cruiser engineered for exceptional performance, safety, and comfort in demanding offshore conditions. Its modified fin keel and skeg-hung rudder deliver responsive handling and superior directional stability, even in heavy seas. With a high ballast-to-displacement ratio and substantial displacement for its size, the 40LRC remains steady and secure in rough waters. This robust construction instills confidence in every voyage.
Safety is paramount in the 40LRC’s design. Reinforced fiberglass at critical impact points, a watertight collision pocket, and a rudder post dam minimize flooding risks in case of a collision. The rudder assembly, a vulnerable component on any vessel, is fortified with a solid 1.5-inch stainless steel shaft and a Triple-Support Rudder System with three bearings—one housed internally to reduce corrosion and ease maintenance. The structural skeg further protects the rudder from grounding damage.
The Quad-Seal Deck to Hull System exemplifies Caliber’s meticulous craftsmanship. This four-step process—using polyurethane adhesive, co-polymer sealant, a thru-bolted aluminum toe-rail, and a stainless steel striker—creates a watertight, exceptionally strong hull-to-deck joint that resists moisture and protects against dockside impacts. The integrated keel, tanks, and sub-sole form a unified hull structure, eliminating external keel bolts, enhancing strength, and providing a double-bottom effect to prevent flooding if the hull is breached. A deep bilge keeps water away from lockers when heeled, and sealed ballast within the keel adds an extra layer of safety.
