Yacht Description

This long range trawler is an excellent example of these highly sought after, quality-built full displacement Krogen Yachts. Nicely maintained throughout, with many recent upgrades. Single 135hp Perkins diesel provides an economical 7-knot cruise, and a 700 gallon fuel capacity will allow for an approx 2000-mile cruise range. The engine was rebuilt in 2003 and runs like a Swiss Watch. Top of the line Wesmar active stabilizers and a 40000 BTU hydronic heating system make this a year-round cruiser and a sure winner in Alaska exploring glacial fjords. New powerful Bow and Stern Thrusters make the boat easy to maneuver around the dock. Note: "Free Spirit V" is a Canadian landed, duty paid vessel and is held in a B.C. Ltd. company -- Inquire about possible tax savings. Viewings by appointment only please.

General Description And Layout

She is a Jim Krogen design production model trawler style motor yacht of fibreglass construction throughout having a raked stem, round bilges to a full-length keel and transom stern. It is a 2-head, 2- stateroom, walk-around configuration. The decks comprise a foredeck with bow platform and anchor winch followed by side decks, cabin superstructure and covered aft deck. From the aft deck a ladder leads to the upper deck and a transom door opens to the swim grid. The upper deck consists of a helm station forward and boat deck aft. Below decks there is a chain locker in the forepeak followed by an ensuite with shower . The forward cabin is comprised of a double bed, closet and cabinetry. Next aft to port is an enclosed head with toilet, vanity sink, shower recess and clothes washer/dryer. To starboard is a double berth cabin and cabinetry. From the forward section, steps lead up to the main cabin with the galley forward to starboard, followed by a lounge area. From the lounge, doors open to the aft deck. From the galley, steps lead up to the pilothouse. The pilothouse incorporates the main helm station with watch bench and side doors opening to the decks. The pilothouse bench converts into a very large double bed. At the starboard side of the bench is a small library and on the dash are two rotating defrosters hooked up to the hot water heating system and controlled with triple speed blower switches, clearing the windshield of humidity build-up even when it is snowing outside. There is also a heat exchanger with a blower under the footrest below the steering wheel, tied into the hot water heating system. The pilothouse a very comfortable place to be in cold wet weather. The COM NAV autopilot located on the dash can be snapped off its mount and used on the flybridge or the front seating area on the foredeck.

ENGINE ROOM: The engine room insulation is twice the thickness of the standard factory installed insulation, hence the boat is quiet. This is particularly noticeable when the boat is at anchor and the generator (which is in it's own insulated enclosure) is running.

OTHER: Extra ballast added to the vessel during construction to compensate for the weight of a dingy. The boom was extended to make it easier to lift a dinghy.
