The deck of the Performance version is designed for those who love to sail with spirit without giving up on simplicity, even when sailing as a couple or with a reduced crew. The four winches are all within the helmsman’s reach: sails can be trimmed without ever leaving the wheel. The self-tacking jib, standard equipment, turns every tack into a fluid and natural motion, perfect for fast cruising. The mainsheet is fixed at the centre of the deck, leaving the cockpit clear and creating a wide relaxation area for guests, well separated from the manoeuvring zone. The integrated bowsprit makes it easy to use light sails on reaching points of sail.
The Grand Soleil 44's profile is sleek, sporty, and unmistakably Italian: a masterpiece that communicates speed even at anchor. But the real secret lies beneath the waterline. The hull shapes, developed by Matteo Polli using the most advanced digital simulations, deliver immediate acceleration in light winds and extraordinary power when the breeze picks up. The generous 14 foot beam ensures stability and tight upwind angles. The mast, positioned slightly further aft than in traditional designs, allows for larger headsails.
The GS 44 has won the Cruising World 2022 Boat of the Year award in the Best Performance Cruiser category. This achievement is even more important considering that the winner boat has won the ORC World Championship and therefore has decidedly sporty characteristics. The GS 44 managed to convince the jury of an award that favours boats with more cruising characteristics. This is a bit of a miracle for the GS 44: winning the world championship and being recognized as the perfect cruising boat.

The layout below is elegant and traditional, with an owner’s cabin forward which includes a head and shower compartment. Aft there are a pair of double cabins for guests .These share a starboard head and shower, at the foot of the companionway. Opposite is an L-shaped galley with 2 refrigerators, 3 burner stove and Microwave. Forward of the galley, the U-shaped dinette can accommodate eight people and the table can be lowered to form an additional berth.The aft head is a Tecmo electric toilet with with the forward head been manual.The L shaped galley to to port with a 3 burner stove with oven . standard fridge freezer plus an additional front loading stainless steel fridge.
