Sky Yacht Description

The Hylas 49 is designed and built for the serious cruising enthusiast. Combining comfort and safety with ease of handling for offshore sailing and live aboard comfort...she is a well respected offshore performer.  From her reverse transom with wide recessed walk down swim platform to her uncluttered low maintenance deck, "Sky" is a superb example of beautiful and functional excellence from the respected design firm of Sparkman and Stephens.

Starting forward there is a large 6'9" V-berth with filler cushion to make a queen berth. There is a hanging locker, 9 drawers under the berth, a bureau with 4 drawers, two bookcases and private access to the forward head.

Next aft to port is a private cabin with a pull-out berth that makes a queen sized berth when extended. There are four drawers under the berth, a shelf and access to the forward head. Opposite, to starboard, is the head with shower.

Next aft is the main salon with a L-shaped full length settee to port with a drop leaf dinette table that seats eight. Dinette drops down easily to create a full double berth. There is a full length settee on starboard. Cabinets and shelving are outboard above the settee and deep storage is behind the settee cushions. All tankage in main saloon is located below the sole allowing extensive storage under all seating areas and behind the dinette and settee.

Aft to port of the companionway is the chart table/navigation station followed by the aft head with a walk-thru to the aft stateroom. Centerline is the engine compartment with access from all sides. To starboard is the double sided galley that runs aft to the aft stateroom entrance.

All the way aft is the center-line queen berth master stateroom featuring a settee with storage under on starboard, six drawers under the berth, two bookcases, a large hanging locker, a seven drawer bureau, and access to the aft head. Portside is a vanity with fold up mirror and drawer with three separate cabinets.

The interior is varnished teak with solid teak doors and trim, has ten opening ports and three opening hatches overhead. Headroom is 6'4".

Manufacturer Provided Description

Her sweet sheer and elongated more traditional lines are the unmistakable hallmark of legendary yacht designers, Sparkman and Stephens. Known for her crisp performance and elegant hand-finished teak interior, she is an absolute joy to handle, even with small crew. The integrity assured by her solid laminate hull and watertight bulkheads further speak to her mission as a reliable offshore performer or elegant coastal cruiser. A feature-filled interior incorporates three double cabins, extraordinary in a 49-footer. The fully -equipped galley spans one of the two passageways to the aft stateroom. On deck, her deep and secure center cockpit provides perfect visibility from the helm and seats long enough to accommodate a relaxing nap. The reverse transom with wide steps and an integrated boarding ladder make getting aboard or off a breeze, whether from the water or from your dinghy. But the best part of her may be the delightfully positive helm that transmits her smooth energy to your fingertips... a spirited thoroughbred responding to your every command as the sea turns to diamonds, carrying you safely to your far destination.
