Tatoosh 51 Ketch ~ Beautiful World Cruiser or Live Aboard

Designed by the incomparable Robert Perry, the Ta Shing built Tatoosh 51 is a rare find. This yacht is BIG, Beautiful and Comfortable! 

The entrance into the main salon is more like a Grand Staircase than a Companionway ladder, which is removable for engine room access. Liberal sized cabin windows allow expansive outside views and light into the cabin. The Salon provides seating for up to ten people around the large Teak inlaid table, plus there is a low/removable Cocktail / Coffee table to port. The Teak and Holly floors are a work of art.  

Built with solid Burmese Teak throughout the interior, the excellent joinery work is a prime example of the 1980's era of Taiwanese cruising yachts. 

Abundant accommodations start with the spacious Master Stateroom aft including a raised Queen size bed, surrounded with hanging lockers, storage and drawers, plus an ensuite Head with a separate shower.

At the Bow is the second Head with a separate shower, followed by a Double Pullman to Port and Twin over/under bunks to Starboard. Both staterooms have hanging lockers, storage drawers, and they are private with arched doorways leading into the Salon, plus private doors offering access the forward, shared head.

The Galley is large enough for two to work together and small enough that its not uncomfortable preparing meals in a seaway. Offering a Double Stainless Steel Sink, a side-by-side Sea Freeze Refrigerator and Freezer with a Dickinson Mediterranean LPG 3-burner Stove with Oven, plus a Whirlpool Microwave. Storage areas are plentiful for provisions to accommodate long journeys.

The Navigation station to starboard is very large, comfortable and well equipped. Electronics and Navigation Equipment include: Furuno Radar with open array radome, Garmin 740s Touchscreen Chart Plotter, Robertson AP200 Sail Autopilot, Garmin VHF 200 (Nav. Station) Garmin 5212 Touchscreen Chart Plotter/Radar/AIS, Multi Data Display (3) Garmin GMI 10, Garmin VHF 20 remote, Danforth Constellation Compass (Helm) Weems & Plath Ships Clock and Barometer.

On Deck the Center cockpit offers great visibility, easy access to all sail handling gear, with wrap around Teak seating, offering high seatbacks for comfort and safety. Working areas are well designed with room enough for crew to sail the boat in safety and comfort.

The Sail plan is generous although not overpowering. Currently aboard is an Ullman full battened Main, triple stitched with three (3) sets of Reef points, a full battened Mizzen, triple stitched with one (1) reef point. Additional sail Inventory also includes a Genoa, Staysail and Spinnaker. (currently in storage)

Standing Rigging is made up of the Aluminum painted Main Mast with double spreaders and the Mizzen Mast with a single spreader (SS Compression posts) plus painted Aluminum Booms and a rigid Boom Vang. Shrouds and Stays are 1X19 Stainless Steel Wire, machine swage fittings and SS Turnbuckles. Winches are all Lewmar (12)

The Tatoosh 51 offers a spacious aft deck area, great for entertaining, fishing, or just relaxing.

* Masts taken down and repainted with Awl Grip

The Yacht is in current sailing condition and ready for a new owner to add their own touches and desired additional equipment.

Rarely does a yacht with this degree of improvements come to market in the price range of this Tatoosh 51.

The owner systematically went through the power, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems to update and improve each  system for dependability. 

The Sail handling equipment (winches and turning blocks) all work well with oversized headsail winches for ease of trimming sails.  The halyards and sheets are in good condition.
