Engine - Main propulsion is provided by dual, V-drive CATERPILLAR 3116 model turbo-charged diesel engines. Each engine is directly cooled by closed fresh water loop which rejects heat to a raw water (sea water) loop. Electronic control stations for the main propulsion engines are located in the pilot house, the fly bridge, and the aft deck cockpit. In addition, a portable, hand held controller is provided to connect engine control stations on the port and starboard Portuguese bridges.
