ZIG ZAG is a highly specified and substantially upgraded Oyster 82 offering genuine world-cruising capability together with the space, comfort and systems expected of an Oyster flagship.

Significantly, many of the major capital items that can represent substantial future expenditure on a yacht of this size have already been renewed or upgraded. These include a Caterpillar Reman 350HP main engine with approximately 200 hours, replacement rod standing rigging in 2025, replacement teak decks in 2023 and a new port Onan 20kW generator with Power Take-Off installed in December 2025.

Her recent investment extends considerably beyond these headline items. ZIG ZAG benefits from twin 20kW generators, hydraulic 30HP bow thruster, Reckmann hydraulic headsail furling, Navtec hydraulics, extensive electric Lewmar winches, Dessal 240 litre-per-hour watermaker, Raymarine Axiom navigation equipment, Peplink 4G/5G communications and extensive refrigeration and domestic equipment.

Her offshore sailing inventory includes a virtually new heavy-weather 130% Evolution Sails New Zealand membrane genoa, Dolphin carbon/taffeta mainsail, North staysail, delivery genoa, AP gennaker and SK99 race halyards.

Below decks, ZIG ZAG combines the impressive volume of the Oyster 82 with accommodation for up to ten guests in five cabins, additional crew accommodation, a panoramic deck saloon, separate dining area, comprehensively equipped galley and generous owner's accommodation. Her interior has also benefitted from refurbishment including maple accommodation sole boards and a lighter contemporary finish.

Further recent works include upgraded Dometic heads and sanitation hoses, fuel-tank cleaning, bow-thruster servicing and replacement bearings, rebuilt/replaced forward saloon windows, portlight and hatch resealing, VacuFlush servicing and extensive exterior varnishing.

Having recently completed an Atlantic crossing, ZIG ZAG is now lying at Hamble Point Marina, UK, where she is undergoing a further refit with Nicolle Associates, allowing machinery, domestic systems and cosmetic items to be addressed before delivery to her next owner.

For a buyer seeking a proven large Oyster for serious offshore cruising, the attraction of ZIG ZAG lies not simply in the capabilities of the Oyster 82 design, but in the extent of the recent investment already made in the yacht's engine, rig, decks, generating capacity, sails, navigation equipment and cruising systems.

BROKER'S COMMENTS

The Oyster 82 represents an especially compelling point in Oyster's range. At over 24 metres overall, she provides the volume, privacy, systems and comfort associated with a considerably larger yacht, yet remains first and foremost a serious sailing yacht conceived for long-distance passagemaking.

Rob Humphreys' design gives the Oyster 82 the powerful, easily driven hull form and reassuring offshore characteristics expected of the marque, while Oyster's deck-saloon concept creates an exceptionally comfortable environment for extended periods aboard. ZIG ZAG demonstrates particularly well why these yachts remain so highly regarded for world cruising.

What distinguishes ZIG ZAG today is the amount of meaningful expenditure that has already been undertaken.

A replacement teak deck is immediately visible; a recently replaced engine, standing rigging or generator is less so, yet these are precisely the items that can materially alter the ownership proposition of a yacht of this size. ZIG ZAG benefits from all four, together with continuing investment throughout her machinery, sailing systems, domestic equipment and interior.

Her equipment also demonstrates that she has been prepared as a yacht intended to be used rather than simply admired. Twin generators, substantial hydraulic systems, powerful bow thruster, high-output watermaker, comprehensive communications and navigation equipment, serious sail inventory and extensive refrigeration give her the autonomy required for extended cruising away from shore-based facilities.

The combination should make her particularly attractive to an owner contemplating the ARC, Caribbean and transoceanic cruising, where reliability, redundancy, manageable sail handling and self-sufficiency become considerably more important than specification-sheet luxuries.

Having now returned across the Atlantic, ZIG ZAG is currently undergoing further refit and maintenance with Nicolle Associates at Hamble Point Marina. This provides the opportunity to address identified mechanical, domestic and cosmetic items following the passage and to document the works as they are completed.
