Apricus Boat | 43' Catana 2003
In the evolution of the cruising catamaran, we have reached a point where there are two fairly distinct design mandates to build boats. The first are the extremely comfortable and luxurious cats whose origins are in the world of charter. The second group has been the growth sector for the last few years, and is based around optimizing the sailing performance possibilities of a catamaran, with as much comfort as is practical sprinkled in. There are many different takes on how to accomplish this, but Catana certainly deserves her place as one of the first to value sailing performance on an equal or greater level than luxury.
The era of Catana which defined the company was from about 1999 until say 2012. Catanas built in this period are legendary, the 431/471/521/581 and concurrent 2 series boats defined an idea that has become very prominent today. Built with equal parts performance and comfort, these are still to this day the most desirable performance cats at a certain price point in our industry. The boats really don't depreciate, and remain a great value.
Apricus is a very clean 431. The interior woodwork, often the thing at deteriorates in these boats is in very nice condition. Beyond that, the boat has all sorts of upgrades, notably new engines, standing rigging was done 5 years back. The boat looks great, and is the desirable owner's version configuration.
