One of the more appealing aspects of the Ocean 38 is her serviceable engine room. The cockpit is set up for serious fishing and includes a tackle center, freezer, teak sole, and teak covering boards. A stiff ride in a chop, 375hp Caterpillar diesels cruise at a fast 26–27 knots and reach 30+ knots top. Note that a new Ocean 38 SS model was introduced in 1992.
