BELLEROPHON is a 2009 Hinckley Picnic Boat 37 MKIII – the sixth Picnic Boat 37 ever built – that has just completed an extraordinarily comprehensive, ground-up refit undertaken in-house by Hinckley Yacht Services (2025–2026) as a showcase of the company’s own service and refit capabilities. She was renamed BELLEROPHON, for the hero of Greek mythology, upon completion. Highlights of the refit include a full repower and stringer relocation to accommodate the larger power – from her original twin 300 hp Volvo D4-300 diesels to twin new 480 hp Volvo Penta D6-480s – a JetStick 4 upgrade, an entirely new Raymarine-based digital switching electrical system built around a new CayCube lithium battery bank (replacing her original Onan diesel generator), a full interior soft-goods refresh designed by Tack Studios, new hull and bottom paint, and freshly refinished brightwork and joinery from bow to stern. Few Picnic Boat 37s on the market today have been as thoroughly and as recently renewed.

• New Glendinning retractable shore power cord
• New suede headliner throughout (pilothouse and cabin)
• New cushions – Stidd seating recovered in genuine Italian leather; cockpit, pilothouse, and V-berth cushions in Martin Group fabrics – and a new mooring cover
• Extensive brightwork stripped and refinished throughout – toe rail, cap rails, pilothouse, window frames, handrails, dash, and helm pods
• Custom Passenger Helm Pod with RayMarine Axium display
• New teak coamings and custom-fabricated helm pods

DECK AND HULL

• New Awlgrip Blue Steel Metallic Hull Paint (E 5013)
• New Whisper Gray Awlgrip boot stripe
• Charcoal bottom paint
• Deck gelcoat polished and waxed
• New Seacocks

Construction of the hull is Hinckley DualGuard® Composite Construction Kevlar E-glass hybrid outer skin. Aircraft grade end-grain balsa below the waterline. Carbon-fiber inner skin. SCRIMP® laminated with vinylester resin. Deck and cockpit are E-glass with balsa and closed-cell foam core, SCRIMPED with vinylester resin. New Marelon ball-valve seacocks with thru-hulls below the waterline and Marelon thru-hulls above the waterline. New Stainless steel half-round on fiberglass molded rub rail – removed, sanded and polished.

Swim Platform: Fiberglass swim platform – removed for hull paint, re-caulked, teak pads sanded, and reinstalled with new hardware.

• Stainless steel swim handle on transom painted to match hull

DECK FEATURES

• New flush foredeck anchor locker with hinged hatch and fold-out anchor roller; anchor roller assembly, new Delrin rollers, and new anchor locker chafe guard
• New rounded, tapered teak toe rail with Hinckley profile – stripped and revarnished
• Teak eyebrow molding around cabin top – revarnished
• New varnished teak handrails on pilothouse top and cabin house top
• New “Bo Peep” boarding grab rail, custom fabricated
• New cabin top grab rail removed, welds blended, polished, and reinstalled
• New cabin portlights
• Three new opening hatches fitted with Sky Screens 
• New Solbian Solar panels 
• New Mast, with a custom-fabricated mount for a FLIR thermal camera
• New paint matched Starlink antenna
• Bow, stern and stainless steel mooring cleats; mid-rail pop-up cleats easily reached from cockpit
• New fenders and dock lines 

PILOTHOUSE / SALON

• Full interior soft-goods refresh designed by Tack Studios
• New veneer in spots with fresh varnish throughout the pilothouse liner
• New Suede Headliner – pilothouse and cabin
• Window frames revarnished (original caulking; not replaced)
• Both hourglass windows re-veneered, varnished, and re-caulked to resolve a prior leak
• Stidd helm and passenger seats recovered in genuine Italian leather
• New custom-fabricated passenger helm pod and varnished dash veneer
• New DC electrical panel doors, fabricated and varnished DC panel box
• New Destroyer-style Helm wheel added 
• New Cabin portlights
• Varnished teak locking companionway door and centerline handrail – refinished

HELM STATION:

• New custom-fabricated helm pods, port and starboard, including trim
• Upgraded JetStick 4 fly-by-wire control system with G-Lock station-keeping
• New engine instrumentation for the twin Volvo Penta D6-480s
• New Lenco trim tab system with helm-mounted control

Helm Electronics and Navigation Equipment:

• New Raymarine helm displays – one Axiom2 XL 24” master display, plus two Axiom2 Pro 12” displays for navigation support and full digital switching control
• New Full Raymarine digital switching (Yacht Sense) system controlling all DC loads onboard – pumps to lighting – eliminating the need for a traditional DC breaker panel
• New FLIR M364C thermal camera integrated with Raymarine Cyclone radar
• New Raymarine ClearCruise augmented reality navigation
• New RMV-400 sounding module paired with an RMV-1600 processor, providing advanced depth capability and 3D live seabed mapping
• Newly installed small camera views on the house and hull, fed to the helm displays (the forward docking-assist camera/lidar unit was removed prior to relisting)
• New cyclone open-array radar antenna – reinstalled following evaluation/exchange with Raymarine
• All antennas paint matched to pilot house 

COCKPIT

• New Permateek faux cockpit and topsides
• New cockpit and pilothouse cushions – Martin Group MISIA “Coin Fe Paradis”, Bleu Eternel
• New teak coamings, port and starboard, with boarding steps omitted
• New mooring/canvas cover, fabricated
• New Embroidered fender covers (dark blue) and helm seat covers
• King Starboard panels installed along both sides of the engine bay to conceal fuel tanks and provide a mounting surface for components
• New engine room vents (Awlgrip Cream W520)
• New fire extinguishers
• Cockpit/pilothouse lockers with varnished louvered teak doors
• Two SS rod holders mounted port and starboard on the side decks

INTERIOR BELOW

• New suede headliner throughout
• New cabin sole – new fabricated sole panels, varnished and installed; amenity doors stained and sealed
• New cabin portlights
• New louvered amenity doors

Entry is from the pilothouse companionway to the galley to port, a private head to starboard, and the V-berth accommodations forward.

GALLEY (Port)

• New countertop – prior Corian top removed, galley prepped, new countertop installed
• New Faucet
• New Refrigerator
• New microwave shelf, fabricated with doors

ACCOMMODATIONS

• V-berth forward – comfortable double berth formed with an insert
• New V-berth cushions and pillows – Martin Group LINK “Montrey”, Rain
• New Cabin portlights

HEAD / HEADS

• New black water system – new sump pumps, new black water hoses, new discharge pump

MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT

• New Twin Volvo Penta D6-480 diesel engines – complete repower
• New engine stringers modified to accommodate the new engines; engine room bilges painted
• New exhaust system installed for the new engines
• New fuel lines run for the new engines and system primed; original fuel tanks retained, most fuel lines new; both fuel tanks professionally cleaned
• Twin Hamilton 274 waterjets – new wear rings, rebuilt cutlass bearings, and new impellers; bucket cylinders and seals
• New PTO pumps for the bow thruster with mostly new hydraulic lines
• New Lenco trim tab system
• New Bilge pumps, tested/replaced as needed, with float switches and high-water alarm
• New deck drains and hose
• New wiper motors
• New Glendinning retractable shore power cord
• New anchor roller assembly, Delrin rollers, and anchor locker chafe guard replaced

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

• Entirely new electrical system with Raymarine-based digital (Yacht Sense) switching
• New Victron battery charger/inverter
• New batteries throughout, including new battery wiring in the transom
• New CayCube 5/20 power system (5kVA / 20kWh) – a self-contained lithium battery bank supplying all onboard AC power
• New Solbian low-profile solar panels
• New LED lighting throughout, interior and exterior, including LED navigation lights
• Bonding system is original; wiring replaced where it was previously submerged[RB1] * 
• Three new Dometic self-contained A/C units tied into the NMEA 2000 network, with climate control available directly from the helm chartplotters

ENTERTAINMENT ELECTRONICS

• New Bang & Olufsen amplification system powering six Celestial speakers (pilothouse, V-berth, and aft cockpit) – 800 watts total output with dedicated amplifiers 
• New Rockford Fosgate Black Box interface integrated into the Raymarine displays for seamless system control
• New Starlink satellite internet

PLUMBING

• New Fresh water system updated – new pump and hoses
• New Black water system – new sump pumps, hoses, discharge pump, and new head
• New A/C raw water pump

SOUND REDUCTION

• Mylar-faced acoustical foam-lined engine box insulation
• Engine box cover with double gaskets and electric riser

SAFETY EQUIPMENT

• New automatic engine compartment fire suppression system with automatic engine shutdown
• New fire extinguishers
• New bilge pumps with float switches and high-water alarm
• Note: vessel does not currently have a carbon monoxide detector installed

• Flush foredeck anchor locker with new anchor roller assembly, Delrin rollers, and chafe guard
