The Hinckley Talaria 40 combines the Picnic Boat's agility and shallow draft with the twin-engine security and spacious accommodations of the Talaria 44. Twin 440 hp jet drives and a weight of just 26,000 lbs. make the T40 a performance yacht. Top speed is 33 knots, cruising speed 28. Range is 300 nautical miles, bringing once-distant anchorages well within reach. A draft of just 26 inches means areas untouched by ordinary 40-footers are now an owner's private sanctuary. The Bruce King-designed lines of the Talaria 40 Jet are unmistakably Hinckley. Pedigree is everywhere: in the flared bow and arched tumblehome, in the overhanging roof of the pilothouse and in the graceful sweep of the sheer, covered in a deep, glossy coating of Awlgrip. The helm affords a 360-degree view of the teak finish, while the cabin features a roomy galley and full head with separate shower to starboard, and is fitted with a cedar-lined hanging locker. Three large hatches and multiple opening ports bathe the cabin in light. And like all Hinckley powerboats, the T40 is quiet, its engines insulated by double-gasket hatches. At cruising speed, conversation - and contentment - flows freely.
Hinckley DualGuard composite construction of the hull is Kevlar E-glass hybrid outer layer for impact resistance, a balsa core and an inner layer of carbon fiber for strength and stiffness. The laminates are laid up using SCRIMP infusion technology with Vinylester resin. Deck and cockpit laminates feature E-glass fabrics with Corecell core, SCRIMP infusion with polyester resin. The deck and cockpit sole have a molded-in nonskid pattern.
Hull:
Seating is built into the port and starboard engine boxes that are topped with varnished teak and separate the cockpit from the pilothouse. A removable forward-facing bench seat on the aft end of the cockpit provides a comfortable conversational space.
The pilothouse provides a protected, comfortable seating area that is open to the cockpit but can be closed off with Stamoid drop curtains with Eisenglass windows to create a fully enclosed space with its own heating and air conditioning. The glass pilothouse windows (2 sliding side windows and 3 fixed forward windows) provide excellent visibility, light and ventilation. There are two Stidd helm seats forward on each side with two curved settees behind them to port and starboard, each with a varnished teak shelf rim outboard. Settees face inboard and forward with removable teak tables. Pilothouse amenities include:
Helm Seats:
Forward are Stidd helm and passenger seats finished in Ultraleather with seat pedestal bases that are powder coated to match the deck color. The port seat has both height, and fore and aft electric adjustment, and a folding footrest. The starboard helm seat has fore and aft electrical adjustment. Both pedestals pivot to face aft settees. Stainless steel footrest at the helm is on the forward bulkhead.
Forward port passenger area has a varnished teak shelf with fiddle rail outboard the seat that has:
