COCONUT (2018-Present)

COCONUT represents the epitome of a true Gentleman’s Yacht. Constructed in 1964, this 63’ Flush Deck Cruiser spent her days traveling the Florida coast and Caribbean waters. Her breathtaking design, varnished handrails, and aluminum build are a combination sure to demand attention and admiration. In 2000, Jackson Boatworks invested over $1,000,000.00 to bring her back to her original 1964 glory and in 2017 she was refit again by her present owner. The three stateroom two head plus Crew Quarters with Head layout promise uninterrupted excursions: albeit trekking the intracoastal, crossing the Gulf of America, or conquering the Great Loop.

COCONUT is a must see for a yacht owner that appreciates a true Yacht with a true pedigree.

History of Burger Boats

To tell the full story of Burger’s history, one must go back to when Simon and Margaretta Brauburger left their home in Bad-Homberg-Ober-Erlinbach, Deutschland and emigrated to the United States with their five children, including their youngest son, Henry, then 7 years old.

After arriving in the New World, the family shortened their name to Burger and established a home in New York, where they lived for about ten years. Realizing the climate and topography of the upper Midwest were so similar to their European homeland, the Burger family relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where many fellow German, Dutch, Norwegian, French, Polish, and Scandinavian immigrants had settled. It was in Milwaukee, at the age of 18, that Henry began honing his skills by applying for a position as a shipbuilder at the Wolf & Davidson Shipyard.

In 1863 — amid the American Civil War — Henry moved 80 miles north of Milwaukee to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, a small community on the western shore of Lake Michigan. There, he married Mary Esslinger, the daughter of a prominent German businessman, and formed the H. Burger Shipyard to produce small, 20' to 30' Mackinaw fishing boats for local commercial fishermen. His expertise and penchant for building extremely high-quality vessels quickly became known throughout the Great Lakes.

They build various yacht models, including the Burger 180' Motor Yacht, the Burger 66 Motor Yacht concept, and others.

Designed by Sparkman & Stephens, whose portfolio includes some of the worlds most celebrated yachts, COCONUT embodies the innovation that defined mid-century yacht design. Originally christened Black Gold by M.K. Chapman, and later coined Lady J by country music legend Alan Jackson, this iconic vessel is the epitome of what qualifies as a true Gentleman’s Yacht. In 2000, shortly after Mr. Jacksons purchase of the 64-foot Burger, Jackson Boatworks meticulously restored the vessel to her original glory. Following countless successful afternoon cocktail cruises with Mr. Jackson accompanied by his guests, it was time for Lady J to become the pleasure of Al Thomas. Thomas purchased Lady J in 2008 where she then spent her time in a covered freshwater slip being cared for and maintained to an exceptional level. COCONUT, after her current owners purchase in 2016, underwent a transformative interior refit, with exterior cosmetic imperfections flawlessly addressed during her yard period at Rybovich Marina, rendering her impeccably rejuvenated. COCONUT spends her days in Stuart, FL traveling the intracoastal waterways as the current owners have an emphasis on entertaining family and guests.

COCONUT is more than a vessel; she is a testament to an era where yachts were built to inspire and endure. Her flushed deck design, robust construction, and storied history maker her a rare gem in the world of Classic Yachts. Whether gliding through waterways, berthing at exclusive marinas, or anchored in the Caribbean, COCONUT commands attention and admiration. Simply put, COCONUT is a floating masterpiece that continues to write her legacy on the open water. You could be her next author.

COCONUT’s Rybovich Yard period consisted of a transformative interior refit beginning in 2016 with exterior cosmetic imperfections flawlessly addressed, rendering her impeccably rejuvenated.
