Codfish is a 1998 Northern Bay 36 that combines traditional Downeast styling, proven commercial-grade construction, and quality craftsmanship. Built by Down East Boats & Composites of Penobscot, Maine, on the highly respected Spencer Lincoln-designed Northern Bay lobster boat hull and professionally finished by Newport Shipyard of Newport, Rhode Island, she delivers the comfortable ride, stability, and efficiency that have made these vessels sought after by experienced cruisers. Her flybridge, equipped with full controls, provides excellent visibility for docking and navigation while offering an enjoyable vantage point for fair-weather cruising.
Powered by a 420 HP Volvo Penta diesel engine, Codfish offers the flexibility to cruise economically at displacement speeds of approximately 7–8 knots or run comfortably in the mid-to-upper teens when desired. A 4.2 kW ENTEC West generator, generous fuel and water capacities, and reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating make her well-equipped for extended cruising, including America's Great Loop and other long-range adventures.
The interior is thoughtfully arranged for a cruising couple, featuring a forward master stateroom and a convertible dinette that accommodates overnight guests when needed. Codfish offers a comfortable master stateroom forward in the bow featuring an island queen berth and convenient access to the head. For additional accommodations, the main cabin's U-shaped dinette easily converts into a double berth, providing comfortable sleeping space for guests.
The spacious main cabin is bright and airy thanks to large windows on all four sides, providing excellent natural light and visibility. For natural ventilation, the side-deck access door, center windshield, two large side windows, aft window, and cockpit door can all be opened. The port, starboard, and aft windows are equipped with blinds for added privacy. A teak-and-holly sole enhances the warm interior ambiance, while multiple hatches provide convenient access to the engine room below.

Dining
The dinette aboard Codfish serves as the centerpiece of the main cabin. This spacious U-shaped dinette comfortably seats six adults and features recently reupholstered seat, back, and filler cushions, along with a beautiful hardwood tabletop. When needed, it easily converts into a comfortable double berth, providing inviting accommodations for overnight guests.
The spacious master stateroom is located forward and features an island queen berth, three portlights, an overhead hatch, a hanging locker, abundant storage cabinets and drawers, reading lights, a teak-and-holly sole, and attractive hardwood trim throughout. Convenient access to the nearby head, complete with a separate shower stall, enhances comfort for extended cruising.
The head aboard Codfish is well appointed and features a stainless-steel sink set into a hardwood countertop, a VacuFlush toilet, and a separate shower stall with a teak floor grate. Additional amenities include a large mirrored medicine cabinet, a portlight for natural light and ventilation, a Tech-Edge holding tank monitor, and an attractive teak-and-holly sole.
The flybridge features a fully equipped helm, two Todd captain’s and navigator’s chairs, a bimini top, and a non-skid deck. Additional amenities include a large storage box to starboard, two cushioned folding chairs to port, and access to the cockpit via a teak and stainless-steel ladder.
