Main Description

Like her smaller and larger sisters in the ever expanding product line, the Marlow Explorer 61E exhibits comparatively huge volumes of space compared to typical polyester and woven roving construction with plywood bulkheads and wood framed bilges. By eliminating wooden supports, bulkheads and framing in favor of vacuum bagged sandwich construction we have once again been able to bring a yacht to market with 79" of headroom in the main salon and lower accommodations areas, 74" in the engine room and a total height to the top of the hardtop of just 18'. This low profile make a far superior sea boat with a drastically lowered center of gravity, while allowing the yacht to slip under many bridges an ordinary yacht in this size range would have to wait for.

The proprietary and protected Strut Keels are used to great success allowing propeller protection and down sea tracking that has the industries' experts raving. Like feathers on an arrow, these twin tails guide and stabilize the yacht making heavy downwind running a delight rather than a white knuckle experience. Featuring 304 stainless steel water tanks, fiberglass fuel tanks (no corrosion) and the finest fittings available from the premier suppliers around the globe, the 61E will be, like her sisters, a yacht for the ages. Standing elegantly at a fine marina or forging her way through seas that would make ordinary yachts tremble, the new Marlow Explore 61E will need no apology for any shortcoming. We have brought the craftsmanship from the descendants of the Ming and other Dynasty furniture makers together with the very best in Western technology resulting in an exquisite piece of art to be treasured by her lucky owners.

2012 Marlow 61e Exterior

A proper yacht, designed for a cruising couple to operate with ease in all conditions.  Her raised pilot house profile with high freeboard is designed to shed heavy seas and yet enable the crew to navigate the vessel safely and securely with large walk around side decks. A Portuguese bridge with secure access to the foredeck robust ground tackle makes quick access to the dual gypsy windlass and all chain rode.
Moving aft to the lower cockpit the decks are covered as you enter the covered aft deck through wing doors and find a large integrated stairway to the bridge.  Side boarding doors flank cockpit and the teak covered decks provide secure footing.  A large dining table with built in aft seating comfortable accommodates 6.  A slide out console with cockpit controls, thrusters and joystick allow for closed quarter operations while backing out of the slip or when the captain needs to be able to access the dock in a hurry.
Along the port bulkhead, there is an access door that opens to stairs leading to the lazarette and machinery room below.  Separating the aft lazerette is storage and room for two crew in separate bunks with a private head and shower.  Aft is the secure lazarette with steering and rudder access.  Forward of the lies the walk in engine room with tool chest, vice, the main power plants and twin generators.  Two sea chests port and starboard provide raw water to the mains, generators and AC units.  This in truly and engineers dream.
The large swim platform is secured with removable staples that provide security when the tender is deployed aft.
Easy bridge access is provided via the integrated stairway. Once on top, you will find the aft boat deck with tender (reserved) and large davit.  Spacious lounge with seating for all of your friends and a large fiberglass table for dining.  To port is the outdoor BBQ and large refrigerator.  Canister life raft and Life sling are stored to starboard.  A full compliment of Garmin electronics is at the bridge helm station.

Salon And Pilothouse

As you walk into the salon from the aft deck, you will be surrounded with the warmth of beautiful natural wood surrounds you everywhere.  Gloss teak and holly adorn the floors throughout the interior.  The salon is homelike, but still has character and club-like charm.  Beautifully furnished and appointed, featuring details like glass and bottle storage, desk and drawers, and TV/entertainment center perfectly integrated into the wood cabinetry.  Large windows let the light in, and feature privacy shades to keep the sun out.
Before you ascend the steps to the raised pilothouse, you will find a generous cocktail bar with oversized refrigerator and abundant storage.
The pilothouse is a captain's seafarer's dream and bosts watertight doors to port and starboard for easy access to the side decks or bow through the Portuguese bridge.  The captain will be in command when seated in the Stidd helm chair while a chart table and settee to port enables the watch crew to prepare for the next voyage.
