The Back Cove 26 offers a comfortable and economical cruise speeds in the 20-25 knot range, and top speeds from 25-28 knots, depending on engine size. With 100 gallons of fuel, a customer can expect a cruising range of more than 250 nautical miles at a 20-knot cruise speed. This not only means that many more destinations are within easy reach, it also means fewer trips to the fuel dock.
With her full bow sections, there is ample buoyancy forward, giving the boat a very secure feel, even in large following seas.
Cornering performance is superb, as the boat banks into corners like a sport boat. Her vee hull makes for a soft ride into the wind as well. Back Coves are also dry boats, with the large chine flat and lift strakes deflecting spray well away from the boat. Even in the aft-most sections of the cockpit, no spray enters the boat.
The bow thruster makes docking simple and safe. Our Side Power unit provides 88 pounds of thrust, which is ample, even in windy conditions or when strong currents make things challenging.
The style and grace of the Maine lobster boat has been admired by boating enthusiasts the world over. No builder blends the classical looks with modern construction better than Back Cove Yachts. As spirited as she is beautiful, the new Back Cove 26 will cruise at 24 knots and provide a dry, comfortable ride. She is a joy to operate and a pleasure to own.
