2013 Cook Custom Fast Cruiser | Equinox
Equinox is a custom-designed fast cruiser, with easy and clever systems allowing for effortless short-handed sailing. She has cruised extensively through Asia and the Pacific two-handed by her sole owners.
She is a comfortable, very fast and strongly built cruiser that has a shallow draft for her size, enabling access to anchorages not normally accessible to vessels of her scale.
Equinox completed her maiden voyage from New Zealand to Fiji in just four days and 18 hours, which according to the RNZYS is the fourth fastest time for a monohull, averaging 11.5 knots. Her speed and efficiency allows you to always stay ahead of the weather.
Extremely strong and lightweight, the yacht is built from carbon fibre, Kevlar and diviny-cell PVC foam core by New Zealand craftsmen. Her hull, decks and super structure were all formed as one, providing an extremely solid structure.
Rigged in 2013 with her impressive carbon fibre spar, enjoyed by her owners for a couple of seasons and then sailed to Thailand for fitting out and commissioning in 2016, Equinox had a full interior and exterior repaint, and new carpets and upholstery installed in Thailand so presents in a clean and tidy state.
After one short season following her fitout, she was shipped back to New Zealand following the pandemic where she has been maintained but not used since, leaving her in an impressive state for her next owner.
Her large open-plan design features a large, dedicated dining space in the saloon with expansive triple windows bathing the interior in natural light. She has three substantial cabins with large double beds, and can accommodate many more on her single berths that make up a massive saloon. Equinox has the potential to be converted to house skipper accommodation in the forepeak should an owner prefer to have crew onboard.
The large cockpit’s hard top and the yacht’s complete set of covers offers a large volume space for sheltered cruising and living, and the open transom provides great access to the water and easy retrieval of the tender.
The venders have put a huge amount of resources and time into developing this unique performance vessel, but unfortunately poor health prevents them from continuing to enjoy her. She now presents an excellent opportunity to secure a serious vessel at a fraction of her value. She is NZ-flagged and will achieve Cat 1 with little effort.
