The Beneteau Sense 57 is far more than just a larger sailboat; it represents a fundamental shift in how we think about life at sea. Designed by the naval architecture firm Berret-Racoupeau with an interior by Nauta Design, the Sense 57 was built for the sailor who refuses to choose between the expansive, social layout of a catamaran and the soul-stirring performance of a monohull.
As a flagship, it doesn’t just offer more space—it offers a completely different philosophy of circulation and comfort.
The Architecture of Connection: The Low-Profile Cockpit
The defining characteristic of the Sense range, and perfected in the 57, is the removal of the traditional "cliff" between the cockpit and the saloon. On most 50+ foot yachts, entering the cabin involves climbing down a steep, five-step ladder. The Sense 57 reduces this to just three shallow steps at a gentle 45-degree angle.
This is made possible by a radical hull design: there are no cabins under the cockpit sole. By moving all sleeping quarters forward, the designers were able to lower the cockpit floor significantly. This creates a seamless "monolevel" flow between the outdoor lounging area and the galley, making the transition between indoor and outdoor living effortless. Whether you are at the helm or prepping a meal in the galley, you remain at eye level with your guests, transforming the yacht into a premier social platform.
Performance Meets Ease of Handling
While the Sense 57 is optimized for luxury, its pedigree is rooted in high-performance sailing. The hull features a full-length hard chine, which serves two purposes: it creates massive interior volume and provides a "secondary hull" that the boat locks onto when heeled.
Twin Rudders: These ensure the boat remains perfectly balanced and responsive, even when pushed hard in a blow.
Ease for Couples: Despite its 58-foot length, the 57 is designed for short-handed sailing. With electric winches positioned near the helms and an optional Dock & Go joystick system, a couple can manage this vessel in tight marinas with the confidence of a much smaller boat.
Speed: In a 12-14 knot breeze, the Sense 57's slippery hull easily finds 8.5 to 9 knots on a beam reach, offering a rewarding experience for the helmsperson without the "twitchy" nature of a racing rig.
The "Teak Beach" and Outdoor Galley
At anchor, the Sense 57 transforms into a private island. The hydraulic transom lowers to create a massive swim platform—often called a "teak beach"—that sits flush with the water.
Innovation extends to the helm seats themselves. Concealed beneath them is a fully functional outdoor galley, featuring an electric grill and a sink. This allows the host to grill the catch of the day while staying part of the conversation in the cockpit, rather than being tucked away below deck. To provide protection from the elements, the 57 features a unique semi-hardtop Bimini with retractable fabric sections, allowing you to control exactly how much sun or breeze enters the lounge.
Interior: The Forward-Cabin Sanctuary
Because all three en-suite cabins are located forward of the mast, they are physically isolated from the noise and vibration of the engine and generator, which are housed aft under the cockpit.
The Master Suite in the bow is a masterclass in nautical luxury, featuring a true island bed, a leather dressing table, and extensive hanging lockers. The guest cabins are equally impressive, utilizing sliding doors to maximize floor space.
