1997 St. Francis 44 - Mark 2 Catamaran
S/v Good Golly Miss Molly is now on the market! The St. Francis was Designed by Angelo Lavranos and built by St. Francis Marine in South Africa. These catamarans are very well renowned for their blue water capabilities, in fact it is said that most of these fine vessels have been circumnavigated at least once. S/v Good Golly Miss Molly is a solid, stable, high-performance catamaran with clear spacious decks, making sail and boat handling easy for 2 people. The enclosed cockpit offers good protection and is very safe with good handholds. The interior is well designed providing a comfortable and relaxing living space.
The previous owner purchased her in Florida in 2002 and prior to that she sailed in South Africa racing in the challenging Cape town to Rio race with the designer Angelo Lavranos aboard. It is understood that s/v Good Golly Miss Molly has never been used for charters. The current owners purchased her in 2009 and have been living aboard ever since. They have loved and meticulously maintained her and sailed her extensively. They bought her in Croatia and sailed her throughout the eastern and western Mediterranean before making their trans Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean. They cruised the Caribbean for a number of years taking in the Lesser Antilles, San Blas Islands and Bahamas before making their way to the USA east coast and on to Nova Scotia. Now s/v Good Golly Miss Molly has returned to the Rio Dulce where she waits for the next adventure. The current owners have a long, extensive record of new equipment, maintenance and upgrades. Some of the recent upgrades include: Antifouling paint 2024, Katadyn Water maker power survivor 160 E totally rebuilt in 2023, New Mainsheet and Traveler sheet, New running back stays in Dyneema all done in 2023. Also newly installed in 2022 is an AIS Digital Yacht AIT 5000 class B+Receiver and Transponder and a new ACR Ocean Epirb in 2023. A new trampoline was installed in 2022. S/v Good Golly Miss Molly is powered by two 1997 30hp Yanmar 3GM30fc engines. Both engines were totally rebuilt, one in 2012 and the other in 2018, and have been well maintained so are in excellent condition. In 2019 new SD 20 Seawater seals were installed on both engines. In 2023 new prop shaft seals were installed on the SD 20 Drive legs, and in 2024 a new input shaft seal was installed on the port engine. The Engines/Drive legs/Gori props are serviced every season. Her sails have been kept in very good condition: Mainsail fully battened and Profurl Furling Genoa by Quantum Sails new in 2018. Older sails include: Jib, Storm Jib, and Asymmetric spinnaker. On the interior, the 44’ St. Francis doesn’t disappoint with 6.6ft headroom, a 23ft beam and an abundant amount of storage throughout. There are 4 comfortable sleeping cabins with ample storage, and each with its own head with shower (3 marine toilets, one composting toilet). The interior is outfitted with a beautiful teak and holly floor and wood trim throughout, all newly varnished in 2022. The interior was also repainted in 2023. The current owners have had many years of amazing adventures on this proven catamaran.
