Alan Andrews needs no introduction in the world of go fast monohulls. A member of the "Fast is Fun" gang, Alan has several race winning designs to his credit. This boat was built as a West Coast Ultralight and raced in the Southern California circut before going to Seattle for a few years and back to California.

Current owners bought her for transpacific sailing based in Hawaii. In the summer of 2026, they did a trip from the West Coast to Hawaii and Hawaii to the Pacific NW. The Hawaii - PNW trip was double handed. They have raving reviews of sailing fast and comfortable on both trips.

"Halekai" is an ideal candidate for an individual, couple or team wanting a fast, comfortable speedster with lots of interior room for friends and family and YC racing, either coastal or transoceaniac.

If you have Pacific Cup or Trans Pac aspirations, the designer and builder have delivered race winning results for many years. The 56, sailing in the "non professional" crewed divisions can certainaly deliver podium results.

As a PNW racer, you can go play with the big boys at less than 1/2 the budget and.... win races. Puget Sound Racing, Strait of Georgia Race, Swiftsure, Round the County, Van Isle 360 and if you're hardcore, Race to Alaska. In between racing, go cruising in comfort.

This boat has a 3 spreader inline rig with runners and checkstays, its a serious sailplan.

It is recommended that interested parties have strong sailing experience prior to purchasing.
