HIGHER POWER is a one-owner 2022 Tiara 38 LS for sale, used and enjoyed for 300 hours on triple Mercury 400 Verado supercharged outboards and berthed in fresh water apart from two southern seasons. She was ordered with a Seakeeper SK3 gyro stabilizer, Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards, an Axalta painted hull in Silver Sparkle over a red bootline, synthetic teak decking, a Garmin 48-inch Fantom open-array radar and a drop-curtain enclosure.
1,200 hp, a Seakeeper and 300 fresh-water hours. She was ordered right and she was kept right.
MAINTENANCE
All manufacturer recommended services have been completed, on the engines and on the equipment aboard, and the full service records exist and are available to a buyer.
Winterization is what makes that record easy to verify on this boat. A vessel stored and laid up for the winter passes through a documented service event every year, whether or not the hours call for one — the engines are fogged and drained, the fresh water and head systems are protected, and the boat is inspected at the same point in each season. On a boat carrying 300 hours, that annual cycle is the reason the calendar side of every manufacturer interval has been kept rather than deferred until the hours caught up.

SUMMARY
Two southern seasons of roughly five months each is the only salt water this boat has seen — about ten months in four years. The outboard midsections, cooling loops, anodes and stainless deck hardware are where that shows up first, and on this hull it hasn't.
She has come out of the water every year of her life, either to winterize in Louisville or to be transported south, so the engines are laid up properly and the hull, the paint, the synthetic teak and the upholstery spend months of every year out of the weather instead of under it. All manufacturer-recommended services have been completed and the full service records exist.
The 38 LS was the first outboard-powered boat Tiara built and the model that opened the Tiara Sport line. She carries a 12-foot-6 beam on 20 degrees of transom deadrise, with two full-length strakes and a wide chine flat running bow to stern. Hanging the machinery on the transom rather than burying it under the sole leaves a single-level cockpit sole from transom to bow with no steps to negotiate, and frees the volume a sterndrive installation would occupy for stowage, the standard Onan 5 kW marine diesel generator and the Seakeeper.
Mercury's Joystick Piloting for Outboards packages Digital Throttle & Shift, electro-hydraulic power steering, Active Trim and Skyhook station keeping, which holds position and heading on GPS and the engines without an anchor. The Seakeeper SK3 is rated by Seakeeper at up to 95 percent roll reduction, at all speeds and in all sea conditions, and it runs on 12 v DC so it puts no load on the generator.
Below the console is a cabin finished in architectural teak and beechwood with solid teak steps and floor, a full berth on an innerspring mattress with storage drawers beneath, a cedar-backed hanging locker, a microwave, an LED TV with entertainment centre storage, and a Marine Air 6,000 BTU reverse-cycle system serving the cabin and head. The head is a full fiberglass compartment with a stall shower and sump pump, a VacuFlush toilet, a Corian countertop with ceramic sink and hot/cold faucet, and a lighted upper vanity. On deck the helm has its own Marine Air 16,000 BTU reverse-cycle system, and the mid-cockpit galley carries a Corian countertop, a stainless sink with fresh water faucet and Corian cutting-board cover, and a 2.6 cu. ft. Vitrofrigo dual-voltage drawer refrigerator.
The aft cockpit is built around a U-lounge that rotates through 180 degrees, converting the seating between facing inboard and facing aft and opening access to the swim platform, with a high-gloss teak table, flush-mounted teak decking and storage below. This boat adds a cockpit electric grill, an icemaker in the helm seatbox in place of the standard storage box, a cockpit TV mounting system with weather cover, a forward fiberglass table and a forward Mediterranean-style sunshade to go with the standard MakefastMarine powered aft cockpit sunshade. Fresh and raw water washdown outlets were ordered at both the anchor locker and the cockpit, and a macerator was fitted to the head system.
The name says it all. HIGHER POWER has had one owner since delivery, and that owner ordered her with triple 400 hp Mercury Verados with intent, not as an afterthought. The rest of the order sheet reads the same way: a Seakeeper SK3 gyro, Joystick Piloting for Outboards, a 48-inch Fantom open-array radar, a drop-curtain enclosure and fresh and raw water washdown at both the anchor locker and the cockpit. Those are the choices of someone who intended to run her in weather, stay out, and use her hard enough to want the deck washed down at the end of it.
