"Hot Flash" is truly a one-of-a-kind Custom-Built Northern Bay Boats Downeast Sportfisherman!

In 2003 her owner started his extensive search for a boat to meet his specific needs and wants. He desired a boat that was economical, comfortable, and tough enough to withstand fishing in the rough sea conditions out of Galveston, Texas in the Gulf of Mexico. He also wanted a boat that was simple in design without a lot of flash and fluff, knowing that flash and fluff meant more maintenance and more to breakdowns. He couldn’t find a production-built boat that met his strict criteria. However, he had knowledge and experience in his past in building, rebuilding, and finishing out boats. So, he decided that building a custom boat was the only way for him to proceed to get exactly wan he wanted. Hence, the 11-year long journey began.

In 2003, he purchased a new 36’ Northern Bay Boats hull and in 2014 he completed and commissioned “Hot Flash”. Northern Bay Boats specializes in building fast and seaworthy work and pleasure boats based on their original Downeast Maine Lobster boat hull designs. The Northern Bay’s are designed and used for Commercial and Pleasure Lobstering, Sportfishing, as well as Cruising Yachts for everyday use, whether work or pleasure. Their boats are designed and built to work comfortably in all kinds of sea conditions. They are known for their efficient cruise and top end speeds utilizing an economical single diesel engine.

“Hot Flash” is powered by a single Cummins ReCon Marine 450hp 6CTA430-2600 Diamond Series diesel engine and a ZF Marine Transmission, which were both installed in 2014 by Land & Sea Services, which is the leading Cummins Factory Authorized Dealer in Texas.

Most of her other equipment and machinery was new in 2013/2014.

Due to the owner's health she has had very little use since finished/commissioned in 2014. There are only 350 hours since finished. She had a new bottom job with zincs and the engine was serviced in January 2024.

She is truly a must see!
