J/Boats built its name on yachts that sail fast, handle easily with a small crew, and stay comfortable enough to cruise. Designed in a collaboratove effort by Rod and Alan Johnstone, the J/109 is the dual-purpose expression of that idea. She has a 30' waterline on a 35' hull and a fin keel with a lead bulb drawing 7'. Under sail that adds up to a stiff, powerful boat that is quick around the buoys, with a proper interior for weekends and longer passages.
JEOPARDY has proven herself on the race course. She was ranked 20th in 48° North's 2012 review of the region's top racing boats, and she took first place at the 2024 PHRF J/Fest in Seattle at Shilshole. Her cushions were kept ashore for racing, so the satin-varnished cherry interior has stayed fresh. A North Sails inventory from 2024 keeps her competitive.
She is equally at home on a Wednesday-night race, a run north to the San Juan and Gulf Islands, or a summer of Puget Sound cruising. She is a well-sorted performance cruiser, ready for her next owners.
JEOPARDY is located at Shilshole Bay Marina and available for viewing by appointment.

Below, JEOPARDY is finished in satin-varnished cherry over a teak cabin sole, the warm interior that sets the J/109 apart from stripped-out racers. Forward is the owner's stateroom with a queen-size berth. Moving aft, the salon opens to the galley and the head with shower. A second sleeping cabin sits in the port quarter. Two staterooms and one head make her an easy boat for a couple or a small family to cruise.
Galley
The galley is set up for real meals underway, not just sandwiches between races.
Cabins
Forward queen-size double V-berth
Port quarter cabin with double berth
Head
Her sail wardrobe was renewed by North Sails in 2024 and 2025. That is a competitive inventory for the race course that also makes for easy, efficient cruising.
