Approaching KNOT ZEN from the stern, the Y78's proportions immediately stand out. Her broad transom and expansive swim platform create a welcoming connection to the water, while the recently renewed teak gives the entire area a fresh and beautifully finished appearance.
A few steps bring you into the aft cockpit, where the yacht begins to reveal what makes the Y78 such an enjoyable design. Generous seating surrounds a large social area, protected by the flybridge above yet still completely open to the surroundings. It is equally suited to a quiet morning at anchor, an afternoon with family, or a long dinner outside. Open the glass doors and the transition into the interior feels almost seamless.
The salon is bright and inviting, with large windows bringing natural light deep into the space. Warm walnut joinery, rich flooring and carefully selected finishes give the interior an understated elegance and sophisticated residential feel.
There is a natural flow forward through the salon toward the dining area and galley. The spaces remain connected without losing their individual character, allowing guests to move easily between relaxing, dining and entertaining.
The galley sits at the heart of the main deck and feels very much a part of the yacht rather than a separate working space. From here, the arrangement continues forward toward the lower helm and the raised seating area alongside it — a natural gathering place while underway.
Moving below deck, the accommodations continue the same calm and refined character.
The full-beam master stateroom is accessed through its own private staircase, creating a true sense of separation and privacy from the guest accommodations. Once inside, the master takes full advantage of the Y78's generous beam, creating a private owner's retreat with excellent volume and large hull windows that bring natural light into the space.
The suite is complemented by a full-beam private master bathroom, along with a dedicated washer and dryer exclusively for the owner's use, adding another level of privacy and convenience for extended time aboard.
The guest accommodations are equally well considered. Forward, the VIP stateroom features a queen berth, while the starboard guest stateroom offers a second queen berth. To port, the twin guest stateroom provides additional versatility, with an electric conversion system allowing the two single berths to slide together when a larger sleeping arrangement is preferred. All three guest staterooms feature private en-suite bathrooms, giving every guest aboard their own comfortable and independent space.
Back outside, the foredeck offers a completely different atmosphere. Set away from the activity of the cockpit, it creates a more private place to relax while underway or at anchor, with comfortable seating and sunpads overlooking the water.
Above, the flybridge becomes the centerpiece of outdoor life aboard KNOT ZEN.
The scale of the space is immediately impressive. The hardtop provides shade and protection while preserving the open-air feeling of the flybridge, with distinct areas for driving, relaxing, dining and sunbathing.
Forward, the upper helm offers commanding visibility while allowing guests to remain part of the experience underway. Moving aft, the flybridge opens into a generous entertaining area that transitions effortlessly from daytime cruising to evening cocktails and dinner.
At anchor, the combination of the flybridge, foredeck, cockpit and water-level swim platform gives guests several distinct areas to enjoy throughout the day. It is this separation of spaces, while keeping each one connected and inviting, that makes the Y78 such an accomplished cruising yacht.
