"KOKOMO" features a wonderful and practical two stateroom layout. She sleeps 4 owners and guests in 2 forward staterooms. Up forward is the spacious master stateroom. It features a centerline queen berth, vanity; lots of natural light from the two ports; large overhead hatch, plenty of cabinets, drawers and locker storage. Ideally there is also a hanging locker on each side of the stateroom. The master also benefits from having its own private entrance to the head as well. Next aft to port is the guest stateroom. It has two off set upper and lower single berths and abundant storage. The enclosed head is located to starboard of the guest stateroom and also has an opening port for ventilation. Note that the head has been upgraded in 2005 to a Tecma Electric flushing head.
The galley benefits from being forward and also has lots of natural lighting. The salon and galley have big windows for great visibilty and natural ventilation. It is indeed an "up galley" and is centrally located in the boat for easy access and entertaining. Major galley equipment includes a newer Nova Kool Refrigerator w/freezer, Toshiba Microwave and Force Ten propane stove with oven.
Vessel features both 110 volt AC and 12 DC systems. AC voltagle is rated at 30amps. There is an 8kw Oan generator for ships auxillary AC voltage. Other electrical items; Xantrax Battery monitor; Pro-Watt 3000w Inverter system; dock side electrical cables and adapters; Newer engine start batteries and charger.
Highly skilled artisans at the Alexander Marine boatyard in Koahsiung, Taiwan handcraft each Ocean Alexander 426 Classico. The pride in their craft is obvious. Wood joints are glued and secured by screws, and parquet teak decks have a clean look (no wood plugs). The counter tops lay flat, and all fiberglass surfaces have a polished gelcoat finish. Like its bigger sisters, this yacht is designed for long-range, economical cruising. The spacious floor plan easily accommodates two navigational stations (including a comfortable cruising bridge), large salon, generous galley, two staterooms, and one head. The 426 Classico is loaded with standard features, including modified semi displacement hull that deliver superior performance, comfort, and great fuel economy. This hand-laid fiberglass hull is constructed by our expert artisans using only the finest materials available. The unique balsa core technology - used on the hull sides, topside, and superstructure - adds strength, reduces vibration and noise, and is very watertight. Also, anti-fouling black paint is applied to the hull bottom. Other standard features include trim tabs, engine hour meters, hinged fiberglass radar mast, cedar-lined closets, deck lights, swim ladders, platforms, and lighted stairways.
Designed by Ed Monk Jr. this an ideal cruising vessel for a couple or family. Many appreciate the large windows of this design and efficiency through the water. Nice curved chines foward limit noise to the forward stateroom. Well desired the Ocean Alexander 426 has deep and wide safety side decks the entire length of the boat making docking on either side of vessel an easy job!
Note that there is no teak on the side decks for ease of maintenance as well. Access to the upper deck is from a ladder in the cockpit that leads to the upper helm area and boat deck. The yacht tender is an 1997 AB 9' RIB with a 2005 Honda 15hp four stroke. There is an electric davit for lanching and returning the tender. The upper helm features a nice sized settee directly aft. The mast is the upgraded Ocean Alexander yacht mast and is very attractive.
In the engine compartment are a pair of Caterpillar 3208's non turbo charged engines rated at 210hp. Engine configuration is a V-8 with a 10.4L displacement. These engines are also well known for their very smooth running and operation and lot's low end torque. Owner does a fast cruise of 10kts at 2100 rpm. Max rpm is rated at 2800 rpm and will give a top speed approximately of 15kts. Both engines feature 120amp rated high output alternators.
