2023 RAPIDO 60 "LA VAGABONDE III"
Hull #04
Self-Sufficient Offshore Capability
La Vagabonde III is an excellent opportunity to own and sail a highly customized performance trimaran that is almost in new condition without the wait for construction from the factory. Built by Triac Composites (Rapido Trimarans) in Vietnam, La Vagabonde III was thoughtfully designed over a three year build process by well known Youtube cruising family, Riley and Elayna along with their two children, to be a self-sufficient, safe, and comfortable live-aboard sailing vessel. Boasting a carbon-foam sandwich construction, she is 60 feet in length and with a displacement of approximately 10 tons, allowing for incredible passage-making under sail in a strong and sturdy hull. The expansive 11.8m (39') beam delivers remarkable stability underway, while the amas help absorb and moderate vessel motion, reducing roll, pitch, and yaw for enhanced comfort and control in heavier conditions.
Unmatched Sailing Performance
La Vagabonde III outperforms many performance sailboats in her size range. In addition to the lightweight carbon build, she is outfitted with Doyle Stratis carbon/Technora sails along with a generous inventory of headsails affixed to a carbon bowsprit. The Axxon carbon-fiber rotation mast and carbon boom deliver exceptional strength, reduced weight aloft, and enhanced sail handling in all conditions. Extremely versatile under sail, La Vagabonde III has reached 25 knots in 18 knots of wind, and 12 knots while rolling out the jib in the same condition with two reefs, allowing for a wide range of performance options to suit changing weather, sea states, and crew preferences.
Versatility in Propulsion
Well-suited for self-sufficient offshore cruising, La Vagabonde III is equipped with a versatile and highly capable propulsion system. The Oceanvolt SD15 electric drive provides quiet, efficient propulsion and supports the vessel's energy-independent cruising philosophy. Complementing the electric system is a 57-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, capable of driving the boat at approximately 10 knots while providing additional range, redundancy, and confidence offshore. For precise close-quarters handling, a Max Power bow thruster makes docking, mooring, and marina maneuvering remarkably straightforward.
Energy Independence
The electrical systems onboard La Vagabonde III truly set the boat apart. She contains a large 48V lithium battery bank that supports extended off-grid use. While underway, the house batteries remain topped off through hydro-regeneration via the Oceanvolt electric propulsion system, high-output Integral alternators, and nearly 2,000 watts of solar, providing consistent and efficient energy management in a wide range of conditions.
Exceptional Comfort Onboard
From the very beginning of the design process, La Vagabonde III was intended to feel like a true home, not just a boat. That meant being deliberate with materials and finishes that felt warm and lived-in. Copper sinks and taps were chosen, along with timber finishes in the galley and saloon table, and wallpaper to soften the space and avoid the flat, production feel that many yachts have.

Commissioned in October 2023, Riley and Elayna, along with their two children, departed the factory in Vietnam and immediately showcased the capability of the Rapido 60 design. With growing confidence in the boat’s offshore ability, both onboard and through the water, they sailed through the Philippine and Japanese cruising grounds during hurricane season. La Vagabonde III was selected and configured with a clear sailing philosophy: ease of handling with the ability to be single-handed, strong offshore capability and reliability, and a well-built, sturdy platform with sufficient storage, power, and comfort to travel to some of the world’s most remote destinations for extended periods. After over a decade at sea, they are now making the difficult decision to part with La Vagabonde III and pursue a new chapter on land.
La Vagabonde III is currently located in Raja Ampat, Indonesia, and is available for private showings. Worldwide delivery options are available.
