New Rule is an exceptional, single-owner Dufour 412 Grand Large that has never been chartered and has received exemplary care and maintenance since her launch in April 2018 in Annapolis, MD. Lovingly maintained by her mechanical engineer captain and cleanliness-focused admiral, she presents herself in almost brand-new, turn-key condition.
With 10,321 nautical miles under her keel, she has proven herself as a highly versatile performance cruiser-racer, robustly built and thoroughly equipped for short-handed coastal cruising or extensive offshore blue-water passages. Currently lying in Panama (8–9° North of the equator), she is fully outfitted and ready for immediate live-aboard and long-term cruising through the paradise of the San Blas Islands, Bocas del Toro, or transiting the canal to the Pacific.

Launched brand new in April 2018 in Annapolis, MD, New Rule was thoroughly shaken down in the Chesapeake Bay and the New England coast. In 2020, she embarked on an extensive, classic American cruise through Maine and the Bay of Fundy, down the Atlantic seaboard and ICW to Florida. After exploring the Florida Keys and Gulf Coast, she crossed the Gulf Stream to Bimini, Bahamas in 2022.
Taking the "Thornless Path" to the Windward Islands, she visited remote hideaways like Conception Island, Acklins, and Inagua, before sailing the trade winds from St. Kitts down the island chain to Grenada. In 2024, she made tracks through the Western Caribbean, downwind across the ABC Islands (Bonaire, Curaçao), around Cabo de la Vela to Colombia (Cartagena, Minca), and finally into Panama, where she has been leisurely cruising the San Blas Islands and Bocas del Toro.
Refit & Maintenance HistoryBecause she is just 8 years old and has been fastidiously maintained, no major refit has ever been required. She presents herself in almost brand-new aesthetic and mechanical condition. Meticulously cared for by her mechanical engineer captain, all fluid changes, prophylactic part replacements, and service records are fully up to date.
