Polaris shows 156 hours on the Yanmar. That is a decade of Chesapeake weekends on a boat that gets sailed rather than motored. Four feet eleven inches of draft opens up the creeks and the thin water that keeps deeper boats out on the main stem, and 16,000 BTU of reverse cycle heat and air conditioning stretches the season at both ends.
The two cabin, one head layout gives a couple a private forward cabin and guests a real aft double, with a separate shower compartment rather than a wet head. The classic mainsail sets better and sails faster than the in mast furling rigs on most competing boats, and the tunnel bow thruster and twin wheels make a tight slip on a windy afternoon a non event.

Jeanneau builds the 379 with a solid laminate hull and a structural grid that carries keel and rig loads into the lower hull, so the boat stays stiff and quiet when the breeze fills in.
Control lines lead aft to the cockpit, and the classic mainsail and 132 percent headsail give this vessel real power in the light air the bay serves up most of the summer. One person can easily sail Polaris.
The cockpit of Polaris is designed for comfort and functionality, featuring wood inlay on the bench seating and a teak cockpit floor. There are plenty of storage options, including a locker under the bench seat, a large lazarette under the port helm, and a dedicated compartment for the liferaft between the helm seats.
A fold down swim platform with a telescopic swim ladder provides easy water access, and the cockpit table adds to the usability. The helm station is well appointed with two leather covered steering wheels, compasses, stainless steel grab rails, and engine controls at the starboard helm. The custom dodger, bimini and connector cover the whole station, and the bimini was cleaned and repaired this season with the isinglass replaced.
The foredeck is set up for anchoring out, with a proper windlass, a Delta anchor, and a double roller that lets the anchor come home in controlled manner.
Polaris offers a thoughtfully designed and comfortable interior, perfect for cruising or weekend getaways. The "Teak" laminated panels, solid wood trim, and light oak laminate floorboards create a warm and inviting space that shows its age well.
The forward owner’s cabin features a central double berth with a high density foam mattress and ample storage, while the aft cabin provides a large double berth and easy access to a well equipped head with a separate shower. The saloon is bright and spacious, with U shaped seating, a luxury folding table, and additional berth options.
The saloon works as one open space rather than a corridor, with seating on both sides and enough table for six to eat properly.
The nav station carries the main electrical panel and gives you a real seat to work a chart or a laptop.
Polaris is equipped with a range of comfort features designed to enhance your time onboard. Airflow comes from two opening cockpit and roof ports, two opening ports in the lateral windows, and four opening deck hatches, each fitted with combination shade and insect screens.
The climate control system includes a 16,000 BTU reverse cycle air conditioning and heat unit installed under the saloon seating, with vents in the saloon, forward cabin, and aft cabin. That keeps the interior comfortable in August and extends the season into November.

Hot and cold pressurized water runs throughout, with a water heater fed by both the engine and shore power, so there is hot water underway and at the dock. One item to disclose: the auxiliary 35 gallon tank under the aft starboard berth has a small leak. It has not been repaired and is offered as is. The 53 gallon forward tank is the primary supply and is sound.
At 156 hours the Yanmar has years of easy service ahead of it, and the tunnel bow thruster takes the drama out of docking.
