RENEGADE - HYLAS 54
Renegade is a stunning Hylas 55 built in 2001, one of only 58 hulls built by the world-renowned Queen Long Marine shipyard in Taiwan. Known for exceptional craftsmanship, offshore capability, and timeless design, the Hylas 54 remains one of the most sought-after Bluewater cruisers in her class.
Originally launched in 2001, she was purchased by her current owners in 2018, who continued her tradition of active cruising and meticulous care. Under their stewardship, Renegade has been kept in top condition and constantly upgraded. After extensive cruising along the U.S. East Coast and the Caribbean Islands, the owners embarked on the 2023 World ARC Cruise. Circumnavigation completed, she is now in Annapolis, MD, fully prepared and awaiting her next adventure.
A major upgrade came in 2021 when the owners installed a new engine, now showing just 2,362 hours—with an engine compartment that looks new. Additional upgrades include new UK Sails (mainsail, Genoa, and staysail (2020), new North asymmetrical Spinnaker (2024), full standing rigging replacement (2022), updated electronics (2024), and a scheduled bottom strip and repaint while on the hard this winter. Fresh detailing completed in November 2025 has her show ready.
Built for serious offshore performance, Renegade features a hand-laid solid fiberglass hull reinforced with Twaron aramid fiber, matched with an end-grain balsa-cored deck and solid laminate in all high-load areas—an ideal combination of strength, safety, and stiffness. Below deck, she is beautifully finished with high-gloss varnished hardwood, bamboo flooring with teak inlay, and thoughtful enhancements such as a custom master mattress, Ultraleather upholstery, a full entertainment suite, and a well-equipped galley.
What sets Renegade apart is that she has truly been a home for her owners—outfitted for long-term, comfortable cruising and offered as a complete, ready-to-go package. Her extensive equipment list includes solar, watermaker, bow thruster, generator, davits, and a large inventory of spare parts, tools, and system backups.
