RETREIVER is a 1980 Hinckley Bermuda 40 MK III Sloop. Located in St. Michaels, MD. She is well maintained and has been used frequently for the past several sailing seasons on the Chesapeake Bay. She has been launched and is ready for another comfortable and traditional year on the water.
RETREIVER boasts the lines that make this boat easily recognizable around the world. Her sloop rigged hull opens up the spacious cockpit. With the traveler track for the main sheet located forward of the companionway, none of the running rigging interferes with the space available to captain and crew.
RETREIVER has a recently painted hull, a single, white boot stripe, red bottom paint, and the traditional, gold cove stripe. Decks have molded non-skid in a contrasting, light grey pattern. Varnished teak toe rails, hand rails, eyebrow, dorade box, propane locker and lazarette locker are all original. Interior consists of varnished mahogany with a solid teak and holly sole.
RETREIVER features a teak cockpit grate, Edson pedestal with pedestal guard supporting a Garmin MFD. The binnacle includes the original Ritchie compass and individual throttle/shift levers. The dodger is included (not pictured). The varnished teak coaming boards are in exceptional condition. Barient 28, two-speed, self-tailing winches are easily accessible. The cockpit cushions are vinyl with contrasting piping and closed cell foam as the interior structure.
RETREIVER has a traditional interior layout. Step through the companionway, down the removable steps and into a salon with a gimballed propane stove port and plenty of storage space outboard with sliding, mahogany doors. The galley sink is adjacent to the companionway step and the refrigerator occupies the starboard side of the galley. Outboard on this side is more storage and the DC electric panel.
RETREIVER has a single head on the port side, forward of the salon. The head is a proven, Wilcox-Crittenden unit that is infinitely rebuildable and very simple to operate. There is a holding tank, direct overboard discharge, and a deck side pump out fitting. The forward cabin is sheathed in solid mahogany with a hanging locker starboard and a tall set of drawers port.
RETREIVER fits the bill as a well-maintained, well-loved, well-respected Bermuda 40. She won't be sitting in her slip waiting. She'll be sailing the Chesapeake. Come see a fine example of tradition from Hinckley.
