Classic 57´ SAMARKAND

SAMARKAND is beautiful, fast cruising yacht with an unrivaled history. She was designed with grace and elegance, sure to please the most discerning sailor.

She has a history drenched in familiar and famous names. Measuring just 17m (55.7ft) the yacht was designed by Olin Stephens (her drawings are renown as the most famous ones of Stephens and are stored in the Museum of Modern Art in New York) and built for Tom Watson Junior, Chairman of IBM in 1958 by Abeking & Rasmussen.

She has been helmed by well renowned celebrities such as the Kennedy family, Grace Kelly, astronaut John Glenn and Sir Anthony Eden to name a few. She has classically beautiful sweeping lines, a true sailing machine of her day. She has spacious teak decks to relax and sun, a large cockpit is safely surrounded by traditional style wood combing.

SAMARKAND exudes the quality and craftsmanship of yesteryear. Built by the famous Abeking & Rasmussen yard of Germany in 1958 for Tom Watson jr. with unlimited budget. Her actual owner found her in Canada and sailed her to the med. Big investments were made for her extensive refits in 2000 and 2008.

An amazing boat to sail with. If you love Classics, have a closer look at her. She is now based in Barcelona.
