This choice is no accident: 5083 aluminum is renowned for its extreme lightness and robustness, infinite durability, non-flammable and non-absorbent characteristics, and being up to 10 times stiffer than heavier fiberglass hulls. The hydraulic retractable mechanism occupies very little longitudinal space on the centerline. At the same time, with the keel down and in case of an impact, the hydraulic mechanism acts as the perfect shock absorber.
