28 Sea Ray 2005 Boat for Sale

Seafood Boat | 28' Sea Ray 2005

If you've been searching for a Sea Ray 280 Sundancer that has been maintained without compromise, this is the boat. Lift kept behind the owner's waterfront home and cared for with an open-checkbook philosophy, this 280DA has received the kind of attention typically reserved for much larger yachts.

The most significant investment was completed during the winter of 2024, when both MerCruiser engines received new long blocks. At the same time, both Mercruiser Alfa 1 outdrives were completely disassembled, inspected, and serviced, ensuring the entire propulsion system was refreshed rather than simply repaired. This represents a substantial investment that provides the next owner with exceptional peace of mind.

In 2026, the helm was modernized with a Garmin GPSMAP 1040xsv integrated with a Mercury SmartCraft Gateway, delivering contemporary navigation, engine instrumentation, fuel management, and vessel data in one intuitive display.

Mechanically, this boat is exactly what buyers hope to find. All onboard systems operate as intended, including the engines, Kohler 5 kW generator, air conditioning, electrical systems, plumbing, and onboard equipment. She is truly turn-key and ready for immediate cruising.

Structurally, the boat is 100% sound. She presents as a well-cared-for vessel that has enjoyed continuous maintenance throughout her life. Naturally, she exhibits a few minor cosmetic signs consistent with a well-maintained 21-year-old cruiser, but her overall condition reflects pride of ownership rather than age.

Equipped with both 30amp shore power the desirable Kohler 5 kW generator, she comfortably powers the air conditioning, refrigerator, battery charger, microwave, hot water system, and onboard amenities while away from the dock, making weekends aboard or slipped both comfortable and convenient.

Sea Ray built the 280 Sundancer to be one of the most versatile express cruisers in its class, and examples maintained to this standard are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Between the recent engine replacements, modern Garmin electronics, lift-kept history, and many other equipment updates, this boat stands apart from the vast majority of comparable listings.

Simply put, this is not a boat that has been prepared for sale—it is a boat that has been continuously maintained to be enjoyed. It is ready for its next owner to step aboard, turn the key, and cruise with confidence.
