Forward is the master stateroom with a Queen innerspring mattress centerline bed. A large head with excellent headroom and a separate shower can be accessed from both the master stateroom and the salon. There is a spacious galley with an abundance of storage and usable counter space. Opposite the galley is a seating area with an entertainment-sized table. The seating area can also be used as a good sea berth. There is a washer/dryer and a separate freezer. The wonderful pilothouse salon provides excellent 360-degree visibility from a very comfortable Stidd helm chair. Some of the unique features of this area include a comfortable helm seat with full instrumentation, large windows with custom wood blinds for privacy. The convertible table provides an additional single berth, a custom flat screen TV in the ceiling, and large Nav-Table behind the helm. There is easy access to the aft cabin with a double berth and more storage. Her interior is Costa Rican teak woodwork and is built to a standard rarely seen today, and is in fantastic condition, creating a warm, dry, and inviting place to seek shelter from the elements. The aft cabin is built for the cruising couple with plenty of storage and a great workshop.
The Cabo Rico 42 Pilothouse has a large user-friendly T-shaped cockpit with port and starboard seating and a built-in helm seat. There is a large sail locker to port with excellent access to the generator. The aft deck has port and starboard propane lockers and a large lazarette. The deck layout allows safe and simple access forward.
The full-service galley is the mid cabin to starboard and two steps down from the pilothouse. It is appointed with beautiful Costa Rican honey colored teak joinery work, louvered cabinetry, and Corian countertops. Storage is exceptional and abundant with a double cabinet for dishes, two large pantries with double sliding doors, an additional pantry to port, under sink cabinet, and storage bins under the steps. In addition, there are also (10) drawers.
The cutter rig configuration keeps the sail size modest. With the Genoa and Staysail all on furlers, all foresails can be doused without going forward. The in-boom furling allows infinite adjustment of the mainsail size again without leaving the security of the cockpit. There is an electric halyard winch. While this is a heavy, powerful boat, sail handling will not require much in the way of brawn. This vessel is equipped with an aluminum double spreader mast with oversized wire rope rigging. It features a clipper bow with furling headsail, furling staysail and a second removable staysail (in storage); hank on staysail, running backstays; and a boom furling main. All control lines lead aft to the cockpit.
