She was one of the last sailing cats to be designed before the designers switched to being power only. Built at a commercial shipyard in Brisbane Australia, she has the makings of a work vessel with the comforts of a yacht.

Maintained by the second owner since 2005. He is a highly experienced marine engineer who has kept Spirit One consistently updated both cosmetically and mechanically. The exterior of the boat features a nearly bulletproof rig, with multiple redundant head stays and side stays.
