STAR DIAMOND has undergone a significant mechanical overhaul, with approximately $9 million invested between August 2023 and May 2024. About $3 million was dedicated to the structural redesign of the bow and keel, making the vessel feel more solid than ever. This redesign enhances her seaworthiness, bringing her on par with the quality and stability of other renowned yachts built in Washington state. During the lift at Lauderdale Marine Center, there was almost no deflection in the slings—an impressive improvement.
I recently took her out in 3-foot head seas, and the vessel didn’t creek or flex at all, showcasing the impact of these enhancements. Additional investments were made in upgrading the monitoring system, performing top-end work on the main engines, replacing the main engine exhaust, upgrading through-hull valves, rebuilding the control room and engineer’s cabin, enhancing air handlers, and installing LED lighting, to name just a few improvements.
STAR DIAMOND is looking and performing better than she has since her launch!

STAR DIAMOND boasts the best sundeck of any yacht in its size category, outshining even many yachts up to 185 feet. Access to the interior is provided by a circular staircase covered by a round hatch, which hydraulically opens and closes just aft of the forward seating area on the sundeck. This convenient interior access from the sundeck, typically found only on much larger yachts, allows seamless movement between all decks, including the lower guest accommodations. Additionally, there is a staircase on the port side that connects the bridge deck to the sundeck.
The sundeck features two U-shaped bars with high-gloss varnished teak tops, complemented by twelve varnished teak bar chairs. The bar is equipped with an icemaker, sink, and refrigeration, and is shaded by either the overhead arch or awnings that extend aft from the arch. Centered on the sundeck, aft of the bars, is a six-person Jacuzzi surrounded by sun lounging pads.
At the aft end of the sundeck, on the centerline, you'll find a BBQ grill flanked by circular settees surrounding teak cocktail tables. Five triangular sunshades can be positioned over the Jacuzzi, sun pad, and aft seating areas, providing ample shade when needed.
This expansive sundeck also offers extensive locker storage.
A passageway provides access to the foredeck, where you'll find escape hatches for both the crew and the owner's stateroom. Beneath the vertical bridge windows is a cozy seating area, perfect for taking in the views.
The bridge itself is thoughtfully designed with excellent visibility. A single helm chair faces forward, while a U-shaped seating area with a table is positioned against the aft bulkhead, offering a comfortable space for owners and guests to enjoy the surroundings.
The Captain's cabin, located to starboard, features a queen berth with an upper Pullman bed. The cabin offers ample hanging locker space, a desk, and an ensuite bathroom complete with a Jacuzzi tub and shower.
To port, the ship's office is well-equipped with SAT COMS and other essential communication and office equipment. A day head is situated further aft, just ahead of the audio/visual control racks, which are designed to roll out for easy walkaround access in an air-conditioned space. Audio/visual storage cabinets line the aft bulkhead, with a nearby dumbwaiter for convenient service. A door to the port side deck allows for unobtrusive crew movement.
The central staircase leads from the sundeck above or the main deck below, arriving at a foyer area. Further aft on the bridge deck level is the Sky Lounge, which benefits from excellent light, ventilation, and generous space.
The forward starboard bulkhead of the Sky Lounge features a wet bar with a stunning honey onyx top that seats three guests. Adjacent to the bar is a four-place game table. Across from the bar, a couch and love seat are accompanied by easy chairs and a coffee table, creating a cozy seating area. Additional couches, side tables, coffee tables, and easy chairs are arranged to the starboard side, providing a comfortable viewing area for the 80” theater screen and entertainment center, which includes a stereo and iPod docking station, all controlled by an iPad.
Double stainless-steel doors open to the upper dining deck, which is arranged with a teak dining table and Tri-Comfort dining chairs. The table comfortably seats twelve, with additional chairs stored nearby for larger gatherings. Forward storage cabinets serve as buffet stations, and a C-shaped seating area is located further aft. This entire deck is protected from the sun by the sundeck overhead, with a manual awning available to cover the aft seating area if needed. The deck can also be enclosed with "see-through" windproof curtains, and is air-conditioned to reduce humidity. For ultimate relaxation, there are four wicker lounge chairs and ottomans.
The main deck features generously sized walk-around teak decks. Forward, on both the port and starboard sides, are stairwells leading up to the bridge deck, where there is centerline access to the foredeck. Forward Bosun lockers serve the anchor windlass area, providing practical storage.
The aft deck is spacious and well-organized, accommodating a 19’ AB tender with a 150 hp Yamaha outboard engine and four wave runners. Two of the wave runners, along with other toys, are stored beneath the main deck in a concealed garage. The tender chocks are removable, and the storage boxes along the centerline convert into buffet servers for large gatherings. From here, you can access the bridge deck dining area, continue up to the sundeck, descend to the swim platform on the starboard side, or reach the hydraulic Passarelle that was rebuilt in 2024 to port.
Entering the main deck through the portside door, you arrive in the Lower Salon, which is elegantly paneled in Bubinga wood. This room offers ample storage and features two sofas for enjoying the entertainment center on the Veranda. The ceiling panels were updated in 2024, and the room offers an excellent view of the main aft deck through double glass doors. It’s an ideal space for children and games, with easy access to the water sports area. The room can also be converted into a massage room with sliding doors between the main salon and dining room.
Continuing forward through double Bubinga wood doors, you enter the dining room, which is arranged with two circular tables, each seating six. A custom wood insert can be added to create one large oval table that comfortably seats 12. This room features extensive storage in beautifully matched wood-paneled cabinets, and offers spectacular water views. The ceiling panels in this room were also updated in 2024.
The main deck galley, located to port, features excellent crew passageways, ample pantry storage, and top-quality commercial equipment newly replaced in 2024, all while maintaining a warm and inviting atmosphere. Forward of the galley is a newly updated crew pantry with modern appliances and revamped storage, also completed in 2024. A fully equipped serving pantry is positioned aft of the galley, offering easy access to the dining room for seamless service.
Moving forward from the dining salon to starboard, you’ll find a day head inboard, just ahead of the double-door foyer that leads to the side decks. The central guest staircase is also located off the foyer, providing access to the bridge and sundecks above, as well as the guest staterooms below.
Proceeding forward, the entrance to the master stateroom is via a starboard side passageway. The full-beam master stateroom offers a luxurious retreat, with a custom king-size bed centrally located in the port-side sleeping area, facing forward toward an entertainment center. A semi-bulkhead with a sliding door separates the owner's sitting lounge from the sleeping area. The lounge is furnished with easy chairs, a two-person settee, bookshelves, an entertainment center, and a desk on the outboard side, creating a relaxing space.
The his-and-hers master bath spans the width of the stateroom, featuring two sinks, two WCs (hers with a bidet), identical hanging lockers on both sides, a central shower, and a Jacuzzi tub in the center.
Access to the guest accommodations is via a circular staircase leading from the main deck foyer. Below, there are four versatile guest staterooms, each equipped with its own safe, entertainment center, and computer network access.
Forward on the starboard side is a twin-berth cabin with an ensuite marble bathroom featuring a shower. The twin beds can be converted into a king bed for added flexibility. Opposite, to port, is a queen-berth cabin with an ensuite marble bathroom and shower.
The aft port guest stateroom is configured with two twin beds that, when stored, allow the stateroom to transform into a sitting room or the suite side of a full-beam guest suite when combined with the aft starboard queen stateroom. This port-side "suite" includes a marble bathroom with a bathtub and shower, and the twin beds can be converted into a king bed.
The aft starboard stateroom is permanently set up as a queen-berth room, with partitions that can open to create a full-beam suite in combination with the port-side stateroom. This stateroom also features a marble bathroom with a tub and shower.
The engine room is located aft of the guest accommodations and is accessed through a watertight bulkhead. Under the supervision of an experienced captain and engineer, the engine room underwent significant upgrades in 2024, with all systems rebuilt or renewed. The layout is designed for easy visibility, access, and maintenance.
The starboard aft engineer's control room houses the newly installed Atlas shore converters (2020), and the monitoring system was completely updated in 2024. Just behind the control room is a single cabin for the Chief Engineer.
In the lazarette, you'll find a refrigerator, washer, and dryer discreetly tucked away behind sliding doors on the port side, along with a large work area on the centerline. Access to the water is provided through a hydraulic door leading to the swim platform. Significant improvements and maintenance were carried out in these areas in 2024. Please refer to the list at the end of this description for further details.
There are two identical crew cabins located all the way forward, each featuring upper and lower berths, hanging lockers, and ensuite bathrooms with showers. Further aft, you'll find two more crew cabins, outfitted in the same manner.
The crew mess is situated to starboard, with a spacious laundry room to port. A crew access door leads directly to the forward guest stateroom, allowing for private and discreet servicing.
Crew members have their own dedicated staircase, providing direct and private access to the bridge deck, ensuring complete separation from guest areas.
The Engineer's cabin is located aft, next to the Control Room and lazarette, featuring a single bed with an ensuite shower and head. This layout provides an exceptional safety advantage, keeping the Engineer close to critical systems and reducing response time in case of any issues during the day or night.
The Captain's cabin is located just starboard of the bridge and features a spacious desk, ensuite head, and a Jacuzzi tub/shower combination. Its strategic location near the bridge enhances safety and ensures the Captain is readily accessible while on charter or at sea.
Crew can access the bridge deck directly via the main crew staircase, entirely separate and private.
