The Dickerson 37 gained notoriety when Farenc Mate published his book "World's Best Sailboats" and praised the Dickerson 37 as robust, simply built, and a seaworthy craft. They were favored by experienced sailors for their solid construction, excellent joinery, and classic Chesapeake bay heritage, embodying functionality like traditional workboats with quality finishes and strong owner loyalty, similar to Hinckley owners but focused on rugged cruising. They feature sturdy bronze hardware, deep cockpits, and designs inspired by traditional, classic good looks, offering dependable performance and a loyal following for serious sailors. The book celebrates these boats for their blend of modern performance with traditional, dependable design elements, making them timeless cruisers.

Many people do not know the Dickerson 37 as they have not been built since the early 1990's. This has resulted in a wonderful cruiser depreciating well below their value. The good side for a buyer is a vessel that fits so many parameters, great sailing ability, tri-cabin layout, cutter rig, traditional good looks, shoal draft which makes her a wonderful coastal cruiser, Chesapeake bay cruiser, Bahama cruiser. The Dickerson 37 is very similar to the Morris 36 and was designed before the Morris.
