Taipan is from the famous Chris Craft company, known for yachts of timeless design and the Corsair 36 is no exception. The lines of the boat are elegant and stately. She is a head turner in any harbor!
If you like to go fast, and who does not, then the Corsair will not disappoint you! Cruise in the 28 knot range and top end approaches 35 knots. She is perfect to casually cruise around a harbor and then zip off to more distant locations in no time at all.
The layout is extremely functional. The cockpit is very well laid out with the stern entry from the swim platform. Once in the aft cockpit you have mirrored lounge seating with high backs and plush upholstery. As you make your way forward, there is an icemaker and wet bar to port. To starboard is a refrigerator and storage basin which would serve well to keep your wine on ice!
Next forward is the guest/navigator seating to port. There are steps up to the opening windshield and passage to the foredeck. To starboard is the helm station. The seating for both are very comfortable and offer great visibility.
The helm is flanked with all the instrumentation you need for navigation or keeping an eye on the vessel’s engines and systems. You have the VHF and autopilot within easy reach when you need them. The Fusion stereo control is also very handy just to your right side.
As you enter below, you will find a generous head to starboard. The shower and head compartment is plenty roomy and the vanity is very stylish!
To port is the galley. There is another refrigerator, sink and microwave oven and electric cooktop. There is plenty of storage above and below. The vessel electrical panel is located at the aft end of the galley.
Forward of the galley is a very large dining area which can double as a sleeping area. The high/low table is nice for dining. This area of the boat is very rich feeling, with lots of beautiful wood, light and plush upholstery.
As you head aft, and to the port side of the boat, you will enter the stern cabin. This features a huge berth! It is very large! The cabin is comfortable with standing room by the entrance and a hanging locker.
The aft end of the cockpit raises hydraulically to give you access to storage and the engine compartment. There is plenty of room to access the engines, generator and other systems.
Taipan features a very smooth-running hull and with a beam of over 12’ she is very stable. With a draft of just under 3 feet, it is shallow enough to get into some very remote areas.
The bimini top provides ample shade when out on a sunny day. You will not find any trouble getting your friends to join you on this beautiful vessel! She is the perfect day boat that is also capable of doing some overnight cruising.
