2021 42 Mag Bay Express “Twenty Twenty”. If you’re familiar with Mike Howarth and Henry Mohrschladt then you remember they originally founded Pacific Seacraft. In 1989 their business was SOLD after a huge success in building thousands of sailboats. With a passion for boatbuilding, it wasn’t long before they founded CABO Yachts in 1990 and started building sportfish boats with the CABO 35’ Flybridge being their first hull. After sixteen years of success, Mike and Henry sold the business to Brunswick Corporation. Mike Howarth’s son Barrett Howarth grew up around boatbuilding and had a passion and vision for boats. In 2015 Mike and his son Barrett teamed up and started Mag Bay Yachts with a vision and goal to be known as one of the finest-made boats on the market. In the inception of Mag Bay, their first hull was a 33’ Center Console which exceeded all the benchmarks set down by all the other boatbuilders in the country. Known for the ultimate fit, finish, and detailed oriented electrical systems the Mag Bay took the center console market by storm.
Mike and Barrett’s concept of boat building was crucial that all effort is built upon a well-designed hull and for that reason, they used Michael Peters to create their designs. The Mag Bay 42’ Express was born as a goal to improve on the highly successful CABO 40 Express and not only beat the original benchmark but exceed them in all aspects of the new 42’ Express. The Mag Bay 42’ Express has the ultimate in-ride and seakeeping ability built on Michael Peters’ highly successful hull designs. The sleek fit, finish, and detailed electrical systems exceeded the CABO 40 Express benchmarks and set many new ones for the industry to follow. “Twenty Twenty” is powered with the optional MAN V8-1200s and is a rocket ship topping out at a whopping 42 knots. Equipped with a GARMIN suite of electronics and all the amenities needed to conquer the most challenging day of fishing on the “Twenty Twenty” and will exceed your expectations at every turn. Owner’s Notes from Michel Peters Yacht Design https://mpyd.net/
April 19, 2023, at 3:31 PM, Michael Peters wrote: According to the draft measurements taken by your diver, the boat weighs +/-47,000 lbs. The design weight with 2 X 1,200hp MAN's was 47,800 lbs., so it's quite close. At that weight, the boat should run about 44 knots according to calculations. The original ZF propellers made the predicted speed, so your missing speed is in the new props. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Best regards, Mike Peters
Shipyard Lift weight 43,000 lbs. when 350 gallons of fuel light makes it 45,500 lbs.
If you’re in the market for an express fisherman, then look no further the Mag Bay 42’ Express exceeds all the benchmarks previously known in the industry. “Twenty Twenty” was built by a veteran owner with a keen eye for detail. Meticulously maintained, this Mag Bay 42’ Express is dialed in and in my opinion better than a new boat coming off the factory floor. The owner’s long-standing passion for boating and desire to make his boats the best they can be, you will not be disappointed with this express fisherman.
