A blend of oak paneling and laminated fabric on the overhead surfaces adds warmth and texture to the interior. The gentle grain of the oak contrasts beautifully with the modern fabric panels, creating a bright and airy environment without sacrificing durability or ease of maintenance.
The cabin sole is finished in oak with distinctive longitudinal milling, adding an element of visual interest and depth. Teak joinery is applied throughout the yacht’s interior, enhancing the design’s classic yet modern appeal. GALLEY
The “L shaped” galley has excellent storage, with numerous cabinets and deep drawers. There is a three burner propane stove with oven, 215L refrigerator, freezer, and stainless steel sink with hot and cold water.
The hull and deck of the Italia Yachts 14.98 is constructed utilizing vinylester resins with unidirectional and biaxial fibers with variable density PVC foam core vacuum lamination. The structural framework is laminated with unidirectional carbon reinforcements integrated into the hull and deck. The “T” keel with steel structure incorporates a lead torpedo keel, the entire structure is then encapsulated with GRP fairing to create the perfect hydrodynamic shape.
The biconical rudder stock is constructed of anticorodal EN6082 with reinforcement blades throughout the structure of the sandwich construction of the high efficiency wing sections for added performance, stiffness, and strength. The rudder bearings are self-aligning roller bearings.
HULL
The 14.98 exhibits relatively straight stem and stern overhangs, maximizing waterline length for efficient upwind performance and better speed potential. A moderate beam is carried aft, providing plenty of form stability without pushing the design into the extreme “wide and flat” territory seen in some race-focused yachts. This helps maintain balanced handling and reduces drag in lighter conditions.
Great care has been taken to keep weight low and centered, which helps minimize pitching and improves the boat’s motion in waves. The use of advanced composite construction ensures the hull is both stiff and relatively light, optimizing sailing performance under both racing and cruising loads.
Forward sections are fine enough to part the water cleanly, enhancing upwind ability and reducing wave impact. As you move aft, the hull sections gain volume to provide buoyancy and stability, contributing to strong off-wind performance and overall seakeeping.
DECK
The deck of the Italia Yachts 14.98 reflects the yacht’s performance-cruiser ethos, offering a clean, functional layout for both racing maneuvers and leisurely cruising. The cabin top is kept relatively low, emphasizing the yacht’s modern lines and allowing for excellent visibility from the helm. Flush hatches reduce tripping hazards and contribute to the uncluttered aesthetic. The minimal coachroof height also helps reduce windage, improving performance under sail.
Generously wide side decks allow crew to move forward and aft without obstruction—a benefit both when racing and in day-to-day cruising. Handrails and guardrails are well-placed for secure footing and added safety.
The cockpit is designed to accommodate both competitive trimming teams and guests relaxing on a cruise. Twin helm stations provide clear sightlines down the deck and easy access to primary and secondary winches for sail handling. Bench seating offers comfortable spaces for crew and guests, with optional cockpit cushions and backrests enhancing comfort.
The Italia Yachts 14.98 features a high-performance fractional sloop rig designed to deliver both racing-level responsiveness and ease of handling for cruising. Every element, from the discontinuous rod rigging to the below-deck furling system, is carefully chosen to optimize weight distribution, sail control, and overall reliability at sea.
