May 2013: Chinese Boat Show Returns in Guangzhou

The 3rd Boat China & Water Sports Expo, dubbed “Boat China 2013,” will take place May 10-12 at China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex in China Guangzhou.

Boat China 2013 has achieved solid market response, according to show organizers, demonstrating that the Chinese yacht market is rapidly developing.

As the biggest boat show in south China, Boat China 2013 is organized by Guangdong Yacht Industry Association and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee, with support from the Guangdong government.

A notable increase in the number of boats purchased in China is attracting a growing numbers of international yacht manufacturers and dealers to enter the Chinese market, organizers said.

The nearly 650,000 square-foot exhibit hall will host builders including Sunseeker, Brunswick, Chaparral, Monterey and Pershing, many of which are increasing their exhibit areas this year, according to organizers. As a result, the in-water exhibition slips will be increased to 100 for this year’s show.

“What the exhibitors value most is the strong purchasing power in China Guangdong,” show organizers said in a statement. Large banks including China Everbright Bank and China Construction Bank are inviting VIP clients to visit the show.

“The increase of marinas and yacht club in Guangzhou provides facilities and public services for the buyers; there are more than 2,000 people applying to take training to get yacht licenses in the last two years. All this indicates that a maturing Chinese yacht economy is coming,” association executive director Wang-Zhao Yun said in a statement.
