Chris grew up in and around Palm Beach, Florida. He often went fishing with his father in the nearby Atlantic Ocean and spent summers fishing in the Bahamas. Because of his proximity to the water, Chris was always around boats. After graduating from the University of the South, in Swannee, Tennessee in 1977, Chris took a job as a yacht broker and hired gun racing sailor for Soverel Marina in North Palm Beach.

During his many racing trips with the Soverel Racing Team, he met David Gilman, owner of Gilman Yachts. A friendship developed and soon after Chris accepted a job at Gilman Yachts in Palm Beach. As time went by, Chris’ interest shifted from sailboats to powerboats.

Chris first met Ken Denison while in the process of selling a new construction 98’ Broward motoryacht named BANDIA MARA to a longtime client. Chris then brought another new construction project to Broward Marine, a 92’ Broward Motoryacht, FANTASY. This solidified the relationship with the Denison family and in 1985 Chris started working at Broward Marine in the capacity as the specialist for pre-owned Broward motoryachts. Over the years, this collaboration with the Denisons resulted in the sale of scores of Broward yachts.

In 1995, Chris ventured out on his own and started American Yacht Brokers. The company flourished until a difference of opinion with a partner caused Chris to leave. Shortly thereafter, American Yacht Brokers ceased operations. In 1999, Chris formed Daves & Company, which became part of Denison & Daves.

Chris remains active in the Broward market as well as a full range of manufacturers, having sold the 135’ Christensen ATLANTICA, the 161’ Trinity MINE GAMES and the new construction project of the 143’ Trinity BIG CITY and a new 60 meter Trinity for a longtime client due for delivery, among others.
