JFA Yachts has launched the Long Island 87, a 26.3 meter (86 foot) sailing catamaran built at the yard's facilities in Concarneau, France. Denison Yachting's David Johnson represented the buyer when the new construction project was signed in 2023, and he's worked alongside the yard through the build.
His client set out with a clear brief: a luxury catamaran that could take the family around the world safely and comfortably, including to remote cruising grounds. With her launch and mast stepping complete, the Long Island 87 is now showing her full lines and proportions on the water.
Built on the Long Island 85
The Long Island 87 follows two Long Island 85 catamarans that have cruised as far afield as Antarctica and Greenland. She keeps the range's focus on bluewater autonomy and reliability, with a reworked superstructure, a larger flybridge and a fresh take on the living spaces.

A Flybridge Designed for Living
The flybridge is the defining feature of the Long Island 87. It's set up as a full living area in its own right, with two helm stations, a sheltered bar and a spacious lounge with panoramic views of the water. Solar panels on the flybridge roof help generate power at anchor, which reduces how often the generators need to run.
Inside and Out
Her 11.93 meter (39 foot) beam gives her 124 square meters (about 1,335 square feet) of total living space. On the main deck, the cockpit, saloon and dining area flow into one another, and large openings bring in plenty of natural light. Aft, the platform carries a 5 meter tender and can be turned into a relaxation and water sports area at anchor.
She accommodates up to 10 guests and four crew. The owner's cabin spans the full width of the main deck with 180 degree views, and the remaining cabins are split across both hulls for privacy:
• Port hull: the owner's bathroom, a children's cabin with four berths and an aft guest cabin
• Starboard hull: a second guest cabin, plus the crew area with a captain's cabin, a crew cabin, the galley and a crew mess
It was a pleasure to work with JFA Yachts on the build of the Long Island 87 for my client. The ultimate goal was to deliver a luxury catamaran capable of circumnavigating the globe safely and comfortably, even in the most remote locations. JFA's craftsmanship, professionalism and passion showed at every stage, and watching her launch was a moment I won't forget. - David Johnson, Yacht Broker, Denison Yachting

How She's Built
Like the rest of the Long Island range, the 87 pairs aluminum hulls with a composite deck and superstructure. The combination keeps her displacement light, which helps her sailing performance and comfort on long passages. Naval architecture is by Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group, and the interior is by Darnet Design, which has worked with JFA on previous projects to tailor each yacht to its owner.
